Methanol and Boost

Has anyone on the org run straight Methanol in their Turbo motor with very high boost, and if so, what kind of power level was acheived?

well its not a Jbody but we run pure Methanol into our gnx with 25-30psi of boost... works AMAZINGLY well... plus i have seen personaly the way it steam cleans the internals in the engine nicly

The First Twin Charged jbody
blue car (R.I.P) - 240whp @7psi..
silver car - 305whp 315lbs.tq @15psi (91 Octane) or 420whp & 425lbs.TQ @20psi (94 octane+Alcohol Injection)
All dynos run on a Mustang dyno

Yeah I'm pretty sure unless you are running a lot of boost (or making a lot of power), it is too high of an octane and you will be losing power if anything. Thats just my opinion.

methanol is NOT for your average street car. it eats the hell out of rubber seals and lines, so unless you have all metal, or hard plastic fuel lines, you'll be in trouble after some time. Beyond that, methanol needs a completely different A/F ratio than pump gas. Rich best torque on pump gas is 11.5:1. Rich best torque on methanol is closer to 4:1.... good luck finding a wideband that reads that low when you're trying to tune it. Not to mention that running a/f ratios like that means you'd suck down a tank of gas in no time at all. If you're building an all-out drag car, than by any means meth is an option, because it has a higher specific power than gasoline, and also a really high octane (somewhere around 115). However, if you build a full out drag car, normally its to compete (full drag cars can get pretty expensive to build, not worth it just to go to test and tune on friday nights), and you'll need to build the car to fit in a class.... and i'm not even sure where a fwd 4 cylinder running meth and a turbo would fit in NHRA classes, as i'm not up to date on their rulebook right now. Needless to say, if you want to try meth or alcohol INJECTION, as a chemical intercooler, that could work very effectively. But straight methanol would be a pipe dream on a street car...

yeah, in your meth injection setup... this guy's saying running the engine solely off of straight methanol.
