Engine Management
Sunday, March 05, 2006 6:08 PM
Hey I have a ? What engine management system is easy to use and tune good for a ecotec with the hahn turbo kit. I know there is the hahn portfueler, haltech, megasquirt, aem ems. I am looking for a something i can use for track and to drive on the street. I will be using a innovate motorsports wide band. All opinions are needed. It is a 2003 cavalier. Also i forgot to mention the fast system as well.

ems or ms. ms is more of a budget standalone for injection/spark. Good system tho if you can manage your way through it. I head the ems interface is incredibly easy to use.

isn't the EMS something thought that requires you to replace the whole ECU, and then you'd have to re-wire everything. and there's not base settings/fuel maps since AEM doesn't make a kit for our cars.

I know because of my cluster, i'd loose all the data sent to my cluster, since it's over a serial data cable. Not, individual wires for each gauge. ... that's just my 95, 2.2 maybe the ecotec is different.

I'm trying to work with AEM right now to set up a system for the Ecotec cars. I should know later this week if they decided to take me up on the offer or not.

That's one of the hurdles that I'm working out as I wait. I've got the help of a well known JBOer who knows just a little about computers and cars so we'll find a way to work it out.

You 2.4 guys gotta get off your butts and start working AEM then. Get someone who knows what they're doing to write up a proposal and show that they could sell some units. To date I don't think they've received one request for a 2.4L setup. On the other hand I know they have had AT LEAST 10 requests for the Ecotec unit...because I've had a bunch of locals, even those who wouldn't need it, write to them and tell them they want something like it.
