ok so i was wonderin, how come when i look at the turbo 2.4 pics, so people have the battery still there where its suppossed to be, then other have it relocated... why is it that some move it and some dont. Is it the different kits or what. just curious, thanks
most people do it to help clean up the engine bay or make room for other things under the hood.
I relocated my battery tray but kept it in the engine bay. I rotated it ninety degrees and slid it back to where a normal Short Ram would sit. That way my piping could run straight down through the hole for the intake/washer fluid which i also tossed out. The pump was broken anyways.
oh ok... so really its more of a preference thing
It's a combination of preference, weight transfer, and laziness to find a better way to run piping.
Some feel it's better to put more weight in the rear for distribution of handling... which makes a tidge of sense except it won't really help "that" much.
Some people just think it looks cleaner - yet they don't shave the tray out of the engine bay. Pointless to me.
Many are too lazy to find ways to run their pipes or make room in the engine bay so they just start ripping stuff out like the battery, A/C, cruise control, etc.... there are so many ways to run pipes on these cars but a lot of people feel its necessary to tear stuff out to make room.
Either way, one of the best setups I've ever seen is Brandon Fetter - he shaved just about everything and the engine just looks all alone int he engine bay. Best look I've seen yet.
Whatever you do if you move the battery please use a proper battery box and don't build it out of wood like SOMEBODY here did.

i see, thats all i wanted to know, thanks
heres what Kevin (onebadz24) showed me to do. i personally think its nice right where i moved it to. no messing with running power cables or anything, uses all stock wiring.
drilled out with 1/2" bit (be carefull, wires below the box)
bolt back down with self tapers. (i added 2 more after pic was taken)
result.
pardon all the rust and dirt. thats a whole nother project im tackling now.

thats cool.. thanks man
and in responce about making a battery box out of wood.. im not that stupid, sometime i wonder about myself but come on, thats just dumb
I did mine for lack of space, with pipe routing issues. but I also did it because my actual doors are shaved and the truck is not. god forbid the battery dies I can still open the truck up with a key. plus I think it looks good
**changes are here**
thanks for those pics i might use these today
Why cant you build the box out of wood?....its not NHRA safe, but still?....aslong as you got proper tie downs it shouldnt realy matter what casing it is in...aslong as you bolt the box down, and the battery down...

heat maybe? i say just run a wire back to the trunk and out a dry cell in there. cleans up the engine bay so much.
if you leave the bat where it is you extending the pipe and creating more resistance and complicating things. i think i'll mover the bat like the guy up top thanks man thats a great idea.
