I have a 3 gauge pillar and was wondering whats a good combination of gauges to put in there. I was thinking,: Vac/Boost (30 Hg/20psi), autometer AFR, and ....well i dont know..Oil temp, oil pressure, Fuel pressure??? just asking
Well what kind of wideband are you going to end up using? If you're going with something like the AEM Eugo, than you can use that digital gauge and put it in your gauge pod. Just using an A/F ratio gauge that isn't hooked up to a wideband O2 sensor will just result in a light show and is not efficient for tuning.
So if I were you, I'd do:
1. Boost Gauge/Vacuum Gauge
2. Wideband Gauge
3. Fuel Pressure

boost
A/F
oil pressure
put a fuel pressure guage on your fuel rail to help with tuning but its not something you really need to monitor from the cock pit. if your fuel presure fails, your call will run like a bag of crap. if your oil presure fails, it'll take out the motor before the idiot lights will lwt you know.
after the fuel pump problems i had with my cav , im keeping a fuel pressure gauge in the car
if ida had the gauge when the problems started i wouldnt have been stranded in the middle and at the mercy of the dealer , and at the cost of 350.00 for them to replace the pump
and a wide band o2 is a must with boost
right now i have
Boost/Vac
Transmission Temp
Oil pressure
thinking about getting a wideband gauge, but i don't know yet, i can live with a box
yeah i know the feeling on room
ive got 2 in my gauge pod( boost , fuel pressure) , ive got the innovate wideband , and its sitting on the left of the stock cluster cover the idiot lights , and ive got 2 (trans temp and volts) in the spot under the dash and in the console pocket
do you need a specific A/F guage to run wideband or does the normal Autometer suffice??
you do need a specific gauge to run the wideband, usually you purchase the gauge with the rest of the wideband kit
a normal narrow band a/f gauge will not work with a wideband sensor, because the sensors are calibrated with the gauge and the narrow band is used for narrow band sensors not widebands (narrow band runs between 0v-1v, wide bands run 0v-5v)
Volumeking333(Ryan) ........y do you have a trans temp guage???
prolly running an auto. its good to know what an auto is running under heavy driving situations.
it is because i have an auto, the temp is very important to know especially with boosted applications.
(the car is not running right now, nor is the turbo or gauges installed yet)
