Where to place Water Injection injector.
Wednesday, February 01, 2006 8:49 PM
Hey guys,
Got my engine runup leve 2 stage 1 kit. 150psi pump. Now i have the gm s/c, with a warm air intake, so it is a metal 's' tube similar to the stock rubber one. Where should i place the injector? Would it benefit from being a closer or further from throttle body? Little diagrams would be helpful Also, if not so close, then y are some of the guys thinking of doing a place between s/c and tb to place injector there(other then not clog up sensors with water). Wouldn't it still not mist enough?

Anyhow, you guys who installed it, did you just drill hole or did u manage to tap the hole. Kinda tough when the intake is only 1/8" thick aluminum.

Thanks for the help.
Nate

Good Buy
I have the same kit , you'll be happy.
What size injector did you go with ? I'm running a M4 myself

put it as FAR AWAY from the throttle body as you can or have fun with TPS problems

if you place it to close it will seep down the butterfly valve and into your TPS and it will read all kinds of things... like you could have your foot mashed to the floor then all of a sudden the TPS will read %20 throttle and oh man its a mess trust me i went threw it and took me like 2+ weeks to find out what it was...and i can just imagine the lean conditions with the lack of fuel :S

it honistly makes it impossible to drive in any kind of trafic light or heavy...

I ordered the m3 with150pump. So that will be close to 4gph@150 psi. The m4 @150psi is 4.8gph.. i think that might be little much. Anyhow, i see you mounted the pump under your seat? How is that? Does it make any whinning noise when its running? Recommend installing it there or put it somewhere?

thanks for the pics.

I can’t hear the pump at all.
Make sure you use lots of Teflon tape though, not just under the seat but throughout the system.
As for the M4, Bobbie made a post not to long about the inefficiency of the M3 nozzle, apparently the mist was being vaporized before it got through the blades if the charger. It still cooled down the charger but did little for timing.
Someone feel free to correct me.
I have a M3, 4, 5, and 7 here.
Now I just have to get off my butt and to a dyno, to get some definitive answers.
Anyways enjoy your kit, and if your feeling wild throw in some HEET.

^ you are right

but,i prefer(use) teflon paste with teflon. sounds funny but there is teflon paste with out teflon and that crap sucks.

my mixture i was using was distilled water(make sure it is distilled) and that yellow bottle heet. about a 50 /50 mix. i used a milk jug for the mixing process.

when i run the m4 injector i will probably go 40% methonal(heet) and 60% water. see how it likes it.

also, dont worry about your TPS. people who have had problems didnt know there amount of water they were injecting /basically too much. Chris tatesh had drilled out his injector so ya you get the point.

i thought u had the m4?

what the difference from m4 to m5?

i have the m4 awaiting install and i am still on the stock s/c pulley. i been running around with the m2 for a while now and felt that was doing the job and went with the m4 based on bobby's and blwnz24s "findings" with the a/f ratio and s/c coldness.

i just installed my injector in the s tube tonight, same exact place as blwnz24. but i have a washer on the other side of the s tube. Also the socket size for the injector i found was 11mm. Kinda trickey getting that set up that blwnz24 has. i had to hold the injector with some pliers to get it up in there. But i got it.

now i just have to test it to see if it leaks. it shouldnt though. sucks i dont have my car ( in storage for the winter) to test it out on damn it. I couldnt come up with anything to rig together to test it. ahh well just have to wait.

hey just a heads up to the guys with the nozzle mounted in the steel pipe just before the TB.. do your self a favor and at least take it off and check it mine was all rusted to hell inside!!!i dont even want to think about where the paint chips and rust particles went... i have now moved mine to the rubber elbow (similar to the placement of the one in the S-tube above) and i replaced that steel pipe with a length of alum tube from a hacked up AEM should be all good now. just check yours to be certian it isnt rusting on the inside.

Jake good to hear you got everything installed.
Did you go with the M4?
You can test to see if it works by setting taking the pressure switch out off the equation.
Then you just get straight power to the pump....
I think Im going to throw a washer on mine too good idea.

It seems like everyone that has mounted their injector into that black metal piece has either run into problems with the tps or with what happened to you............
I've had mine in the rubber elbow facing right at the throttle body for a while now........And the only thing I noticed was that my throttle body stays very very clean! lol

ya i went with the m4 injector

the way cooling mist has it set up with my kit is that i can ground the boost switch and the systems works. so i can have a wire in one hand touching metal, and then look at the injector/ hoses and check for leaks.
