Intercooler positioning question...
Wednesday, January 25, 2006 1:13 PM
i have a 99 sunfire se and i was wondering if anyone has ever put their intercooler behind the stock bumper. And if so, does it still get enough airflow to function properly. Because there is a limited amount of open space on these bumpers and im goin for a nice sleeper look. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried with mine, but it wasnt happenening, ended up having to mount it under the main bumper frame and piping below the radiator, ended up looking pretty nice, but i totally lost my sleeper status.

It really depends how tall your intercooler is and how well you can pull it off. Most people have little trouble with a moderately tall intercooler behind the Z24 bumper. And then again, the base bumpers are trickier. But it can be done. You just want to make sure your end tanks are facing out, it's the easiest to fabricate piping for if you are going that route.

Mount it to the point where the fins can access air through the open grille area in your front bumper. That's "all" there is to it.

your stock cavalier bumper has a much bigger opening than the sunfire bumper. Im just worried about the air flow...If it will be enough

I like that. And I'd be offended if I didn't know my Honda has bigger balls than my Cavalier could ever dream of having. H22, intake, exhaust, ondata ECU, and now nitrous. 100 wet.

You're running a 100 shot of nitrous on a bone stock H22? Honda S200 right?
