Door Panel

Does anyone know the easiest way for me to take off the window crank on my door panel....(manual windows) I need to take it off so i can take the door panel to put my new speakers in, thanks

there's actually a little tool you can get at napa or auto zone for maybe 5 bucks that'll do it for you. i've also heard of using a rag and some other things, but i just bought the tool so that's all i know how to use.

that tool scratched my door panel to @!#$, i just use a flat head + sometimes a little hook thing

I use the tool and I've neverl scratched a door panel. beware of flying clips no matter how you do it.

yep if the clip flys your are in a world of sh*&, trying to find it is like finding a needle in a hay stack

thats why i ran to my local auto store and picked up a pack of 5 for a dollar, those things always seem to fly to where u cant find them.

Use a fork instead of a tool... bend out the center 2 prongs

Hey guys, thanks for the advice, i used an old kitchen rag and got em off...one clip flew and i lost it, where can i buy another. Also where do the clips go...I went to go look at the tools they had, didn't really like em, but maybe ill pick one up too just in case

Check an auto parts store for replacement, bring an old one in.

The clips go back on the actual crank itself. You will see two openings where the nipples of the clip go in. The looped side of the clip goes TOWARDS the two bumps. (you will know what I am talking about when you look at your crank).

When you put your cranks back on, makes sure your winodws are all the way up (before replacing the c-clip) so you can position the crank where you want it. Also, dont forget the black washer, you need that.

And one last thing... The metal crank coming from the door is toothed, so is the handle. It will require SOME force to get the crank back on, simply to overpower the c-clip. If a single good WHACK doesnt get it back on, spin it a little and feel for the teeth to engage.
