i built these fiberglass boxes, this is only one of them, i left the other at the house. please excuse the pictures, they were taken from a crappy camera. The enclosures are going to house 2 12" Power acoustik BL-12. I know they aren't the best but that was all i was able to afford. I think they came out good for a first project.
BTW, this is also my first time posting a pic so i don't know if it is going to work

congrats on both counts! The pics, I can see, and look decent. I've never tried fg-ing, but want to sometime. Just makes things fit better, I think. Looks good. Can't wait to see a good pic of them loaded!
looks nice...i'm planning to do the same project in the next week or so. how long did it take you?
again, congrats on the box.
thanks for the comments. I'm glad the pics worked. I will try to get a pic of them loaded in a day or so. One of the boxes is not completely done but close to it. I decided not to paint them and i am going to wrap them in vinyl. Over all each the boxes took about 2 days, the second one was much easier than the first, after i got the hang of it.

I was just about to say the same thing, but you beat me too it.
If you've nevr used body filler before, it's pretty easy, and it would look a lot better to put the vinyl over a smooth surface. Wouldn't take too long, and would definitelt be worth the effort. just my 2 cents. I do think they look good though, especially for a first try.

No that's a very good job, and a bit ambitious on the form...I would have chosen something much simpler to start with. Nice job man
I gotta learn to do that.

great job man, i did the same type of thing, and i painted mine, click on my sig, and take a look. i'd like to see the box wrapped. never seen one wrapped in vinal before, painted like mine, and carpeded is what most people do. i angled my sub about 5 degrees up and 20 degrees forward, so when i put the second sub in there, there isnt as much cancleation by the two opposing subs. i found that if you put two subs facing each other, they cancle out some of the sound. if you angle them even the slightest bit, instead of cancling eachother, they reenforce the sound waves, and makes it a little lounder. just my 2 cents. oh ya bloodsplitter, its really easy to fiberglass, just
go here, and read up on the topic, and go hard. you learn best only if you try it. what can yuo lose??? only $50 in materials. and about a day of time. i found that this turitoral is very helpfull for first timers. i know it sure helped me out a lot. you can also buy videos on this stuff, but this is free advice.

sorry for the double post, but i got a question, how do you plan on making the box not move. i used self tapping screws, and peeled the carpet back quite a bit, and found a few brackets to screw into. my box isnt moving, but if you dont screw it to something it will slide everyware. and it i remember sorectlly, there isnt a lot of places to screw anything down on the new cars. i found all of 2 places to screw the box down with out goin screwing it down onto the floor.

yep that looks good and with some finishing touches it will look great. make sure you let us know how they sound when you get it all done.
they aren't really pointed at each other, they are slightly angled but you can't see it from the pics. I will try to put a pic of it loaded, i'm going to put them in the car like that how they look now. i just want my bass back!!! but i plan on making them look better in the future. I have a hole in the bottom with a bolt going through that was fiberglassed in so i don't have any air leaks. thanks for all the comments

looks good, once i get the time, i will porbably start on my other sub box, or my amp rack, my amp rack will be made outa very thin MDF, and FG. and plexyglass showing the amps. i'm essentially building a big box, with holes where the amps are goin to be located with a plexyglass lid, and a huge hole in the back of the box for air movment, and wires. then ill tuck it outa the way under the rear deck, and put it on rollers so when i'm showin it off, i can really show the amps off. what do ya all think about my idea??? and when doing the bondo (body filler) use small amounts, and if you cant spread it, stop, otherwise you will be there for ever, once that stuff hardens its like sanding metal. but it does look good in there.

I dont know if anyone really cares , but simply pointing two drivers directly at each does not necessarily mean "cancellation". More correctly the possibiliity exists where there will be destructive interference, but there are definetly conditions more suited to this than others. It really is all in the design.
Wow!! I just found this thread, cause I'm getting some ideas for a sub box for my car. My idea was to put it in the corner of the trunk, like this one, so that I still HAVE a trunk. Gotta have somewhere to put the stroller. Anyways, thanks Travis for posting that link to the how-to website. It answered most, if not all of my questions about 'glassin' my trunk.
Cheap bump for all us FG rookies.
I may not know much about cars, but I know two things....
1) Breaking things is expensive, and
2) Horsepower isn't cheap.
