I have a eclipse cd5444 head unit and it just started to do this @!#$ to me. Like when i turn it on i can hear music and then a few seconds later there is nothing....no music....not even when i turn it to radio...nothing.......The amps are off when this happens to.....I have a MTX 1501D and a ALPINE V-12 T-320....They both turn off when the head unit does. I belive that there is nothing wrong with the amps because if there was they wouldnt power up at all . I think....The fuses are fine....What the hell is causeing it.please help
I would test the remote wire on the amps...
When they power down, see if the remote wire is still getting power- If it isn't, then the deck is shutting them off...
if the remote wire & battery wire still are hot, then the amps are beat.

are u saying the amps are toast ? everything works for a sec then nothing...dead.....the cd player works but no sound.........i have the mtx amp hooked up to 2 kicker solo baric s12L7 and the alpine is hooked up to the polk db6500 ..6-1/2" Component System ......for weeks this system worked and then nothing...no sound at all......

If the amps are getting power, but aren't turning on- then yes.. I'd say they are toast... If the remote wire is not showing 12volts, then the amps will not turn on.

take a piece of wire. jumper it from the power wire to the remote wire on the amp while the head unit is turned on. That will test to see if the remote wire is causing the problem. If you get music, DON"T leave it like that, or you will run your battery out. If you have a warranty on the head unit, I suggest using it.

if you have two amps connected to one remote wire, you MIGHT be overloading the circuit on the radio and its shutting down.....im run four things off my remote wire, so i ended up putting a relay to it.

yeah but when it was hooked up it was fine, everything worked. Ive had this system work for a month now, why is it doing this now and what did happen.......

isn't an eclipse warranteed forever? take it back if so.......is the unit fried? had a problem like that before with a cheap deck. if it were the amp, wouldn't music still play from speaker?
hey i went to check everything with a meter i got from work and as soon as i turned the key EVERTHING was fine . it didnt cut out or nothing....................what the @!#$...........
Sometimes electronics equipment just needs to feel the love. Because you paid attention to it, it decided to give you what you wanted. However, you might want to pull the head unit and check the amp wire for connectivity.

just cuz it works for the moment doesent mean the problem is gone. pull it out, and do what these smart people are telling you to check. it may come back to haunt you, or may come back as a worse problem.
remember- bad installation is NOT covered by a warantee. so cover it up now if you screwed something up, so if the deck is fried, you can still have it replaced.

my amp cut out for about a month. i unhooked the subs, and after about a week of not touching the amp or wires, it came back on and all was good. after that happened, it cut out every other day or so. then i got $*##!@ at it and i changed the RCA cables. works great now. my lead wire, power cable, and ground were all great, so i figured that it was the RCAs and presto, i was right. befroe i took the RCAs out i checked them and nothing was coming outa them. the cable was pinched and grounded the wires. luckly for me, nothing else was broken.

it could possibly be a loose connection to your head unit. either constant 12+....ignition, or ground. either of those come loose and it'll shut down.

mine does that sometimes i have a pioneer and its the face if i press on the face it comes back on? just an idea
