i was looking at an instal kit says it for 1200w max 600rms but the kit comes with 5+ g cable? not sure why its 5+ and not just 5g
there was another kit 1000w 500 rms that had 6g
and 800w 400 rms that was 8g
shouldnt a 1200w kit be thicker cable?
and my second question is if im running a dual amp, dual sub kit with each sub bridged to its own amp, i know i need a distribution block for power but is the single main fuse enough? or do i need seperate smaller fuses on each line after the block?
i am running a pioneer head unit
2 pioneer GM-3300T amps ..not big 150rms bridged 4 ohm.
2 kicker 10" comp 300 max 150rms 4 ohm. in a bandpass
these are going in a 2003 cavalier... any idea how this would sound?
usually i always find my answers reading posts here so until now i havent needed to sign up
fairly certain you'll be fine with the 8ga kit. you're not going to be drawing a whole lot of power out of those amps.
car audio noob since 1984.
Don't bother even reading the power rating on the wiring kits boxes. They vary so greatly it's ridiculous.
if you are planning on upgrading at all do a run of 1/0 guage into a fused distribution block and then run 4 or 8 gauge from there to your amps. If your not going to upgrade at all just do a run of 4 gauge and into a fused distro block
Whats up people?
4 gauge will take you up to a true 1200 watts IIRC. Just go with 4 gauge.
Thats also why we use grommets and dont run the wires through the door jambs.

If the wire shorts out, excess heat can cause the car to catch on fire.

Kicker is so yummy. That's just my opinion though since I haven't worked with anything but Kicker, Stinger or Alpine.
Kicker Hyperflex is by-far the nicest power cable I have ever touched
I Love that stuff

The Tsunami bulk rolls on eBay are of decent quality and its only like $100 for 50 ft. Damn good deal if you ask me but most people dont need 50 ft of the stuff.
