Omega AL2000EDP Alarm questions
Saturday, March 28, 2009 3:24 PM
Currently I have a Viper 791xv that I'm kind of sick of, especially now that I'm trying to re-wire the car and figure out what the shop that installed it did as to where my dome lights never turn off, even after pulling the fuse. I've been doing a lot of business with a different shop lately and they sell Omega alarms so I could always see if they could hook me up with one...Now on to my questions.

Is this a good alarm or is there one better? I really like all the options and features of this alarm, but haven't been able to find any reviews.
How hard it is to install? I can take it to the shop that I've been going to, but personally I would rather do it myself since there is a lot of quirks with the car itself. Not necessarily with the wiring. I will be installing all the features it comes with and should have no issues as long as I get some type of wiring diagram telling me which wire is which.
Is there a different passlock immobilizer....I have one with the viper it's the 555T (I believe). I'm sure Omega has their own. If so does anyone have that part number so I know which to get if I do decide to upgrade alarms?

the 555T will work with any alarm. so you wont need to change that. and as far as the omega alarm. it looks to me like it would be a WAY downgrade in quality. viper has some VERY solid stuff. if you wanna go with inexpensive i used Autopage RS-727LCD alarms in 3 of my buddies cars and also my old sedan. and they were also very solid. anywyas. thats just my .02 cents.

I PM'd you. Omega is damn good stuff, been installing it for 4 years now and had ZERO problems with any of them.

Michellle - Check the wire that goes to your Dome light and see if it is pinched or grounded out anywhere. It may be grounding somewhere causing it to be on.

I had it hit me today on my way home from work...the idiots took a negative wire from the alarm, and hooked it up to the positive side on my trunk light....no relay nada...so I'm going to be going out and getting a relay to put in between and see if that solves the problem. I'm still toying with the idea of upgrading alarms in the future. I like having the ability to use GPS to remotely track and lock my car
