passlock problem bypasskit not working

I put in a remote start today. The car wouldn't start at first, but then my boss took a look at it and it seemed to work after making no changes so I figured maybe it was just trying to learn the resistance or something and went on my way, it started fine the next 4 times I went to start it. Then I tried to start it and it started, ran for a second and died. Now that's all it does, I've done a re-learn on the bypass, I've done the learning procedure where you put the car in gear too.

Does this sound like a wiring issue, or a failing PLJX. The PLJX wasn't new, so it could have been a defect, but I won't be able to get a new one for a week or so, so if it's something in the wiring I'd like to know.

If it's learning the resistance (light blinks after holding programming button) then it's probably wired right, right?

This is frustrating.

did you use tach? if you did i would double check the tach wire and try reprogramming that. What you could do is change to voltage and see if it starts no problem....if it does then your tach is wrong, or not programmed. Also i never used a PLJX but did you have too cut a wire in half? are you sure you didnt mix em up when wiring to the PLJX?? is your GWR hooked up to the PLJX? are your brake lights on? is every thing plugged in maybe something got loose? BUT my main concerns are the bypass and the tach....i would check those first. Oh yea what kind of R/S is it? try reprogramming everything.....

It's a viper 5900 A/S. I'll check the tach. I went to the IDI plug and tapped the purple/white wire, I have a QUAD4. I'll try the white, since that's supposed to work too.

I didn't have to cut a wire in half, basically the PLJX needs
12v,
IGN,
STR,
bulb test (black wire on 12v harness),
resistance value (yellow wire in passlock harness) ,
passlock ground (black in passlock harness)
and ground out from the starter, which is to be left unconnected when programming the PLJX then connected after, which I've done.

I'll have a look at the tach tonight.

whats STR and bulb test?? sorry not familiar with those.....But i install those vipers all the time, and the only reason it would ever start and shut off was either tach or bypass....do you have 1st acc hooked up? but even that shouldn't cause this type of problem.......try remote starting the car with the key in the on position... i never tried it on a jbody or a gm at that....but it works with a lot of other cars which is letting you know if you have a bypass problem or a wiring problem....you gotta try to eliminate everything possible.....

STR is starter. Hold button in, it blinks. Shut car off, wire ground out while running into remote start from PLJX, then you're done.

Yeah, that's the reprogramming sequence I mentioned earlier. I've not had a chance to check tach but I'll be sure to post if that fixed it.

Also bulbs test is just the theft light bulb in the cluster, the bypass looks for it for some reason.
