04 sunfire SL Coupe
I cut the wires on my Trunk button now my license plate lights won't work does anyone know of a way to complete the circuit without having to reconnect it? (Like placing a wire in the Fuse box if you were putting in a aftermarket deck)
I cut the wires because my car was Broken into and all they did was push the trunk button to get my subs, I Disconnected it so that they would have to Pry Open my trunk Instead of just pushing the button. Give'em a harder time I always say! I was just going to add connectors to the wires so I can have my plate lights working and i could just unhook them when the car is not in use. Thats the problem with the 04's everything is connected to everything! to many chain reactions. But if anyone has a better idea let me know thx.
My trunk button is it actually a small button or is it the pull up lever beside the seat? I only ask because i haven't seen inside an 04 before.
My only idea would be to wire it up to another button somewhere much harder to find maybe behind a panel somewhere or something.?

you cut the wrong wire, your trunk release button has nothing to do with your plate lights. those are tied into your parkinglights. reconnect whatever wire you cut and go directly to the switch and just unplug the wire off the switch.

I might of cut a wire somewhere else that I forgot about cause my lighter doesn't work either. I cut the wires a little after the plug so if they did break in, they would have to rewire it instead of just plugging it back in. I'll Just Pop out the Button, Reconnect everything and move it to another area like ashley said. I like that idea. Thanks for the info If that doesn't solve the plate lights not working then I goofed up somewhere else.
Lol, what a funny thread.
Put down the damn wire cutters man. Seriously, what a dumb ass move.
Flip the switch over to OFF in the trunk on the latch, and your problem is solved.

finally some logic in this thread
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
I reconnected everything and the license plate lights still didn't work. I took the trunk lid apart and found that gm did not reconnect the wires after they did body work on my car for hail damage. So it wasn't the trunk button

That's crazy you took your car directly to GM to get repair work done...
