I'm buying a 2001 Chevy Cavalier but the radio doesn't work because someone change the battery and the theftlock thing came on how do you fix this.

I dont know about the 2001 radio but the theftlock doesnt come on unless it is the wrong radio... in which case you will have to take it to the GM dealership or a shop that has a GM Tech II scan tool to reflash it.

If its an older one then there is a way to do it on the interface of the radio..

2000+ are CODED to the VIN of the actual car, someone put in a radio from another car before you bought it.

So should i just put in an Aftermarket unit

up to you, you could get it fixed at a dealer if it makes ya happy.
