i am wanting to put a good stereo in my 98 cavalier and i am wondering what or some good speakers that will go real loud and wont crack the sound or what or sony,kennwoood,pioneer,infinity good or what idk an whats good stereo player brand i need help??loll

Go to a shop and listen to the different brands. I would suggest a 6 1/2 in the doors (make adapters) and 6x9's in the back.
OMG...Sony Xplod. Well he may be right about easy on the wallet, but the sound is worse than your stock speakers.

lol this is a bad question sry but its honestley up to you and what sounds better to you but if u wnt gd sound deff not sony lol check out like kenwood or alpine audiobahn even like jl or jvc u can find just about nething online dirt cheap go to a shop near u and see what sounds gd write down the model numbers and hit up websites like onlinecarstereo.com or cardiscountstereos.com , hifisoundconnection.com i think it is or even ebay

Actually it misses it by a long shot. You were right about grabbing them, but you forgot to mention throw them as far as you possibly can. I'd keep blown stock speakers before I downgrade to Xplode.

You should calm down. We actually work in the industry and this debate has already been covered on Xplode garbage. Xplode speakers are worse quality than stock.

your on the right track, sony amps and most sony head units are junk. the speakers are fine.
i am refering to the 4 way 6x9's and the 3way 6.5's.
this is why i sugguested a pioneer head unit.
anyone who sugguests lightning audio over xplodes obviousley needs to do more research.
you may as well stuff 10 roadmaster speakers in your car with out any boxes and 10 splices to one speaker wire.

Well, Mr. Minetti does have a point, Lightning audio is indeed made by Rockford Fosgate. Are they fantastic? No. There's one or two of their subs that are very decent, but the best is slightly above factory replacement. Are they better than new sony? Without a doubt, yes. I'm not trying to stir anything up, I just don't want the kid to buy something and then come back saying I wasted 100 dollars on junk.
On a side note, much props to the motor swap.
I would like to see some time slips though with that 3.7 second 0-60 time. I bet that engine is pushing 400+ horses n/a considering the size of the car and those numbers.

HOW HOW HOW did i miss this? I would not touch a sony speaker or head unit if I was paid to run it . Their woofers have absolutely no low end extension and sound muddy. Mid ranges have no midrange and tweets are harsh and tinny. There what may sound good to you will not sound good to any of us who have more experience in this. If you think you can I cant wait to hear this? When you gonna bring it by so I can clear my schedule? AS far as picking a speaker out go listen to a bunch of different ones. If you think they sound good then hey thats what counts since its your car.
between Myself lanman and mennitti I can assure you we have worked on well over thousands of cars and trucks not to count the hours on our own cars and time spend at car shows and soundoffs. I hope you need some help on that audio install. I'd love to give some advice.

Your first part is spot on.
6.5's in the doors is a brilliant suggestion. Build/buy baffle boxes so you eliminate the back wave on the speakers. It won't be as loud, but you will have little to no distortion. It enhances your speakers midbass response as well.
Get yourself a Cadence TXA6004 amp (2 6.5 2way or 3 way speakers in the doors that handle around 150w@2ohm or 100w@4ohm and 1 sub wired to 2ohm that accepts around 600w).
I understand this is expensive, but the way I look at it is: If you care enough to come on the internet and ask people you don't know, you will get the audio bug at some point, and all of a sudden, that system you have been building for a year and spent around $800 on is just a waste, because you realize you could have built a MUCH better system dollar for dollar.
I suggest going to www.caraudioforum.com for information regarding this stuff. Go there and do a few things.
Forget all you have ever heard or "know" about car audio.
Never listen to BB/CC salesmen. (stereotype, but generally spot on)
Rear speakers destroy imaging and only give a 1-2db increase, which is a 33-66 percent increase, but you are getting that increased SPL at the cost of distortion.
To end my rant, use this forum for installation and "will it fit" questions and go to dedicated audio forums for the nitty gritty.
By the way, no offense guys. There are a lot of people on here who give great advice, but from an audiophile's point of view, this isn't that kind of discussion forum. Too many people spouting about things they have no idea about.
CAF is a bunch of pricks who think that if you dont run what they run then it sucks. or dont know jack about audio but will add there two cents in anyways. there are much better forums than that and sounddomain. Carsound, termpro stevemeadedesigns, hell even realmofexcursion is by far and away better.
Also you are talking about imaging and other advanced topics. That does not really help a newb. It just adds more stuff to the pot to confuse him. But what do I know, you and your boss amp are audiophiles.

I agree with the imaging being advanced. I'm a smart kid, but I understand some things come easier to others. I belong to all of the sites you mentioned also, they each have their talent and their n00bs.
Oh and by the way, I know damned well my Boss Audio amp sucks. I bought a 4ga amp kit, box, 2 type r's, and the amp off a kid for $300. Installed it myself. I've done more work on friends' cars than my own.
Still, suggesting rear speakers for the loss. But hey, I'm not going to be hard headed or anything. If you know more than me then show me the way, and I will benefit from the experience. Thanks mate.
well , if i may step in again before i prove all of you wrong bout the xplodes, why dont we all just have a group hug and hide our diffrences till monday or tuesday when the xplod instalation is complete. after that we can nitpick and bellyache.

Sorry to contribute to the thread jack Jimmy. To give you a straight answer based upon what you see here, everyone has a different opinion of what is decent quality on the budget you are thinking of. We are simply trying to steer you away from the junk. It's like Honda vs. Toyota, everyone has their preference and not everyone will agree with me. If you can afford to, you should consider speakers by a reputable manufacturer like Eclipse, JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Orion, etc.
