2-way pager alarm install
Friday, September 14, 2007 9:26 AM
I just bought a Radiostar Generation 2-way pager alarm with remote start. i'm not using the remote start since my cars a 5 speed, and i don't car about warming up the car. but anyways, i have most of the wiring done but i'm a bit confused about a couple wires that i have left. For the door triggers, it says to diode isolate each circit for drivers side door trigger, and passenger side door trigger. what type of diode am i to use. i'm driving an 01 sunfire GT. power windows, power locks, keyless entry. thanx in advance for the help.

I'd use a 1 amp diode, stripe towards the switches I do believe. is it a negative trigger on your alarm or a positive trigger? our doors are a negative trigger.

but yea listen to diode advice above

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

They do make clutch bypass systems, and I have seen it done in a fashion that it would only work if the Ebrake was up or in Neutral. As for the diode, all the papers i have say to do it like lanman said.

forget the diode use the domelight wire. Works just as good and is easier....no need to use diodes.....should be neg trigger also

What about the dome light delay? wont that trigger see a ground if you arm the car while the dome light is on? herby bypassing it all together-- not good. And also if you hook up a hood pin on the same 'instant trigger' wire as the trunk, when you pop the hood the trunk light comes on. Not good if your working on your car, and happen to leave the hood up over night.

I just installed an alarm in mine, used diodes on the door triggers.

http://www.the12volt.com/diodes/diodes.asp -- use the diagram for neg triggers.

1amp diodes 1N4001 - radio shack.

If you use a hoodpin and trunk trigger on the same wire, use diodes the same way for those..

not true....when you arm it with the domelight on there is a delay but the alarm wont be fully armed till the light goes out. Think about it like this....what happens when you arm your alarm with the door open? see my point. Also if you have a pager there are different triggers for hood, doors, and trunk.....or it would just eliminate the need for a pager alarm....what would be the point? Trust me...there is nothing wrong with using the domelight.....thats how i have it on my car and i got no problems...
