You have a short somewhere young padiwan. Track it down and your problems will be gone.

ok does it pop when you turn on the radio? if it does then your radio may have an internal short...if it does it sometimes you got other problems...like a short somewhere else...LOL maybe your trying to use some thing in the cig lighter it doesnt like?

Most of the time just replacing your cigarette lighter (the whole thing, not just the thing you light a cig with) will fix the problem. They like to get old and wear out, and then cause problems. There actually pretty easy to replace once you go through all the hell to gain access to it. (have to remove the piece under the dash/center colsole first). They don't cost much, so try that first. My sunbird did the same thing once, and replacing the lighter fixed it.

Is your 12V power to your stereo wired into cig lighter? I know whoever wired it up in my car ran it to the fuse box and hooked into a circuit that blew when i cranked the vol. up. Check what your wired into for power.
