do you guys think ill be able to get a few more 3^ft if i use some 1"x2" steel and frame in a wall that way i wont have to brace the inside of the box, stronger, and it will contour to the inside of the car.
you'll still need bracing i imagine.
I would just stick with wood, using metal will be heavy, and expensive. Frame it out with 2x4's, and start adding layers, you can still contour it to the car that way.

If there is a will there is a way. Also I have seen all thread used as internal bracing instead of wood.
Like this...
im going to use all thread for the frount of the box im going to check on the price and see how much i can get it for. i was thinking about 2x4's but they till take up alot of rm since im going for around 18 cubes (before port and subs).
18 is gonna be tough, especially with multiple layers you'll be needing.

yea i know i might just use use 3 15's, or go into the trunk.
i need atleast 12-14 after port and sub displacment.
you can use 1x1 metal box instead of 2x4's, it's a little more expensive, but it'll eat up less space. plus if you want you can stuff wires into it and feed it forward or back or wherever you want.
thats what i was thinking im going to get some price's today but i dont know how much im going to need. if i can get away with 14^3 after all displacment ill be happy
wouldn't the metal bracing actually make the box stronger too.....plus you can tack weld it together, and then just build the outer layers of it. Seems like a good idea to me!
yea thats the point you wont have to use as much wood, or brace's inside the box and it will be stronger.
You will still need bracing. even if you have an outer frame of metal. The panels will still flex in the middle.
overkill it, brace the crap out of it. better to go to much, then too little.

thats what the all thread is for. im going to see how much i can get the steel for and talk to my friend about welding it then ill make my mind up.
but my girl asked when im going to send the other 2 subs in to get re-coned to 15's so i guess that means its ok for the wall
Alot of the guys up here build their walled and no-wall vehicles exactly how mclone's example shows. But they use a ton of all-thread, multiple coats of resin and multi-layered walls/baffles etc.
I'm with wysiwyg - threaded rod is definitely an SPLer's friend. With all the large, flat panels you'll have, you're going to need to brace the living bejesus out of it, but rod won't take up too much internal space if you go that route.
