wanted: build up of SQ/SPL system
Monday, May 21, 2007 4:13 PM
I am planning to have my stereo and interior redone completely but wanted to know if anyone that lives in Northwest ohio or near can build it. I have a budget of $5-6K and want a wall. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Time frame is in a 2 months.

5-6k? Hmm we could do quite a bit with that budget. If you came down here(I live in morgantown, wv) we could set some stuff up. Heres what I would do with a 5-6k budget thats an spl/sq set-up

2 15" Fi BTL's - 880 new
Either 4 Orion 2500d so 2 strapped each
2-3 NSB90s
200A alt
ed wiring
rainbow components
nice 4 channel amp(active)
pioneer 880prs
sound deadener for the doors
and then wall materials.
Maybe a 1x1 metal frame or a 2x4 frame with 3-4 sheets of birch, subs stacked, port driver side, tune to maybe 32-35hz. Should get loud and hit the lows. That would be my dream sq/spl set-up. Of course I dont do sq at all so deedees are my choice for subs

4x memphis pr154........599.99
1x alpine mrdm1005 mono amp.......550.00
1x memphis pr100.4 4x50 amp.....300.00
2x apline 5.25" speakers......179.98
1x memphis 0 guage power kit.....249.99
1x kentik 1800 cca battery.....300.00
1x eclipse cd3100.......299.99

labor......1800.00

includes wall with 10"x10" round port in center of wall

he claimed to tune it to hit around 150-152dbs

im in MD but tell me what you want done and you can drop the car off, my friend used to work at a body shop and now he's starting his own comp. all he does is fiberglass work, car audio install's and $hit like that.

for 5-6k we can do a full fiberglass and painted interior, full wall with more power then your house use's, a few componet set's, carpet, headliner, t.v's the whole 9. we can do something like t.v.'s in the rear 1/4 window and @!#$ like that.

nullthis is his xb he did 90% of the work to

if i was you i would go with 8 ssd 10's and 2 hifonics XXV Colossus that will give you 1901 each ch, so 7604 to the 10's 14-16cft wall with around 200" port tuned around 35hz's

the good thing about the hifonics xxv's is they are vary effecent and do there power at 12 volts, for the ele. system a iggy 300 amp alternator or 2 and 3-4 deka intimadators in the trunk

if you dont want 8 10's you can also go with 2 18" btl's

Re: wanted: build up of SQ/SPL system

2 18 BTLS 2 DD 9515s
2 Memphis 4000ds (or comparable amps)
2 6.5 comps for the door
16.5 comp for the kicks.
q logic kicks.
memphis amps for the comps.(that way they match.
300 amp alt
4 deep cell batteries in the trunk 1 under hood
1/0 gauge wiring.

If that doesnt get you what you are looking for then you may be deaf

100" of port with 1000 watts I highly doubt it will hit 152 or close. Have to be one hell of a wall IMO. Also getting 14-16 cubes in the cavalier is hard and I dont see it being done without building into the trunk which Im not a fan of. If your looking for SQ/SPL DD's arent an option as they sound like @!#$. They are SPL subs and not musical subs. Id go with btls and if your wanting to be loud 15's stacked with 250-200" of port area driver side running 4kw to each sub will SLAM. Get 2 sets of components id go with some very loud components something like the Boston Pro 60s. Get some nice strong 300x2 amps for the fronts so your running 300 to each component and should be very loud and you will still hear the words clearly.

i told him 2 btl fully loaded 12's, an opti 4000d, 2 sets of opti components, and an opti 150x2d. Won't break the bank, will get loud, and get good sq as well.

Not sure how much experience you have with DD9500s, but I've made my DD9515s sound pretty damn good for something with that kind of SPL potential. It's ALL in the install, but they can definitely be musical.

There's also the Treo SSX option if he wants loud daily subs. But they aren't cheap. And don't forget about TC and AudioQue....

Dont have a ton of experiance with them but out of all the subs ive heard they have by far the most mechanical noise and it sticks out alot IMO. Much rather have a BTL or something else as far as musical subs that get loud go.

do you even know what the 9500's where made for??? they where made (many years ago) to be used for concert halls/clubs atleast thats what i remember from back in the day. then can sound real good in the right set up but 90% of people use them for spl not s/q

anyways back to the topic

i jsut got an e-mail back from hifonic's and i can ge a really really good deal on amps stright from them :-) if you want something just let me know. but if you don't want alot of subs i would do

2 18" btl's fully loaded. $998.00 shiped
2 hifonics XXV Colossus $1300.00
125x4-Channel XXV Gemini $500
2 set's cdt audio ES-610 $600
300 amp igga large case alternator $400
4 G31's $400
wire, rca's wood, glass $500
cd player /mp3 $300

thats about 5 k i can do the laber for around 1500 +/- since everything will be glassed in. now with that set up you will be ATLEAST 152 at the dash and we can have it tuned high if your at a bass off and change the port for everyday use.

The MA Audio amp is going to need 17+ volts - get yourself something that doesn't, like the hifoniks or an opti4000d or two.

i have i ordered my epic 160 from them. got it quick even though it was coast to coast
if you are going to pay a grand per woofer i would find something else man. thats enough for 4 btls or 4 9500s damn near.

that's for 2 woofers.
