front end wreck. minor damage. no keys in ignition, all light switches off, doors shut and yet there are still indicator lights on in the dash. any suggestions? battery won't hold a charge even for half a day.

front bumper was ripped off, both air bags deployed, both headlights cracked a lil, fenders and hood are just fine. how would i go about fixing or testing for the short?

start by checking every switch that leads to the lights being on (ie. knob switch on right arm of steering columb, ignition cyl, door switch, dimmer).
see if they are all operation properly (ie open and close at correct times)

haven't had a chance to test the ignition system yet, but i went out to the car earlier just to see if those few lights were on and they were. just for @!#$s and giggles, i turned the light switch on and the indicators lights went off. all this still with no key in the ignition. still aound like a short in the ignition cyl.?

the only stuff in the front of the 03+ sunfires is the bag sensor, and the wiring for fogs, headlights, maybe the fuse box got something shorting? as for no charge, sounds like wire got snapped or something, what lights were on exactly?

check gauges, air bags(both had deployed), service, oil, and brake.

No actually in that case... has somone reversed the wires on the switch? check that if you want... indictors will come on without key in ignition. Also, follow the note above about the wire being detached from charging... quite easily possible in that case.

i really don't understand electrical. lol. i just went out to the car and charged the battery and hooked the driver side headlight back up. after a few mins. of running and charging, i killed the car and removed the key. i sat there and waited for those indicator lights to come on and they didn't. oh, i still haven't checked the ignition system. lol. no need now, i guess.
