interior Roof Light

Im a pretty big newbie to the j-body forum and although i am i chose not to post this in the newbie section cause i thought it would get more replys in this category. I drive an '04 cavi and as for the light on the cieling, it goes off everytime i pull the key out of the igniton and stays on for about 30-45 seconds. I hate when it lights up and stays on to long. is there any wiring i can do to stop this fuction from happening or possible shorten the time that it takes to shut off. I don't want to disable the roof light completely because it does come to use at times when trying to find something in the dark but as for it lighting up everytime i turn my car off and take my keys out for 30 seconds becomes very annoying, any solutions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am pretty sure that is by design. I don't think you can change it either.

I belive the curcuit has a resistance of sorts in it, as I subbed a LED bulb in for my interior light, and because of that curcuit, the light always is on (dim as it may be) because of the minimal voltage running through. If you want to change the length of time the light stays on, you probably just have to increase the resistance, or lower the capacitance of the curcuit... where those pieces are to change is a question I can't answer right now...

That's odd, because I've had an aftermarket head unit in my cav for almost as long as I've had it, and the timer for the light still works like normal.

I would have bet on the timer being in BCM (or convenience center on the 95's). There may be a way to change the time, but if it's in an IC, probably not.

my 99 stayed on as well, but the 00 shuts off after about 1-2 seconds, works like normal when the door is open.

if i need it on i just turn it on though, not a big deal at all
