Hello all,
Please don't laugh at me and call me names for asking this, because I did do some searching before posting here, and I am still a bit confused. It is better to ask a stupid question than to do something wrong, so here goes...
I have a ProStart CT5460W 2-way alarm/starter that I am trying to install. I have downloaded diagrams for the wiring that I need, so I have most of this figured out already. I also have a 555LW PassLock bypass module, but I'm not really understanding how this wires up. I assume that I need the wires from the ignition cylinder, so I pulled the cover off the steering column, and underneath I see this:
In the instructions that came with the 555LW, it says:
Black/Yellow R-Code, output to BCM Connect this wire to the side of the resistance wire facing away from the ignition switch.
Yellow R-Code, ignition switch Connect this wire to the ignition switch side of the Passlock system's cut resistance wire.
Can someone please tell me which wires I need to tie into for these?
Thanks!
Jere.
Also, the Blue/Black wire on the 555LW module wants to be connected to the status output of the Directed remote start system.
What wire is this going to be? I don't seem to have a status output.
You'll want the set on the right side picture, and that blue wire goes to the negative starter wire on your remote start.
Okay, I figured out that I have to actually cut the yellow wire on the ignition, and the switch side goes to the yellow wire on the 555 module, and the other side (down to the BCM) connects to the black/yellow wire on the 555 module.
So you are telling me that the blue/black wire on the 555 module will connect to the ground wire of the alarm/starter?
Okay, I did find a negative output from the alarm and tied it in with the passlock module. Now I can't figure out how to program a remote for it. lol. Is anyone familiar with the programming for a ProStart/AutoStart CT-5460TW?
You don't want just any negative out, you want the negative ignition wire on the remote start. Should be listed on the remote start.
I have it hooked up to a white wire on the alarm labelled Ground Out When Running.
I still can't manage to program a remote for it though. I have two remotes, and can't get either of them to work, so now every time I open a door the damn thing goes off.
search the internet and contact the company for an instruction manual or something for the rs.
I have instructions for it, but for some reason it just isn't working. I have two remotes, one has the LCD display, which shows the battery status (and it is full), and the other remote has an LED that is flashing nice and brightly to show that it is fine too.
I have the antenna wired in and mounted at the top of the windshield on the driver's side. I can't even get a response by sticking the remote inside the car while pushing the buttons, either close to the antenna or close to the module.
The instructions say to flash the hood pin (hold it down for four seconds, release it, and then tap it again to 'flash' it). The park lights will stay on, which they are supposed to do, which is good. Then I turn on the ignition (it says turn it on and immediately turn it off), and I have even tried turning it on for two seconds, then turn it off and hold the lock button until the parking lights flash five times and the horn chips twice. This part never happens. It just ignores the remotes completely, and then resets itself and goes into auto-arm mode after another 30 seconds.
I have tried it with the door open, and with the door closed and just going through the window to turn the ignition on and off so that it won't set off the dome light and have the timer interfere. Nothing seems to matter.
Does anyone have any ideas?
