I guess I assumed incorrectly that this would be simple. I walked into the local Pep Boys and told them I was looking for a fuse tap, and they just looked at me crosseyed. Went over to Circuit City to ask one of the installers there, and he said I'd be better off tapping the ignition wire.
I did find a pic online of the littlefuse add-a-link. Maybe I can print that out and show someone somewhere and they'll know what I'm talking about.
Otherwise, does someone have a good pic showing the ignition wire I can tap into? What's the best way to do it?
its called add-a-circuit and they are available at pep boys and auto zone last time i was there. the first time i tried finding the the people at pep boys had no clue what i meant either. just go in the electrical section and searh. i think auto-zone for sure has them. and as for the ignition wire just tap into the fuse its easier i think and your not choping up your wires
Seems like it would be easiest to just install the add-a-ciricuit thing in the fusebox -- although I don't know how well it'll fit. (Anyone with experience?)
The litelfuse thing fits fine in the fusebox and works great. I've had one on mine for over 3 years with no problems. It's tapped onto the windshield wiper circuit.
Sweet i'll go that route then -- assuming I can find one of the dang things!
check the sticky, i posted a picture of what it looks like

Yeah I saw what they look like, just couldn't find them anywhere here in town.
I went through the same thing. I finally just went to Auto zone and asked them and they knew exactly what I was talking about. Its amazing what little people know when they are getting paid to install stereos lol... But yea if you can't find one let me know I can pick one up for you here its like $6-7 and it comes with extra fuses.

What's the fuse rating on the add-a-circuit things at autozone? I picked one up at Meijer the other day and it could only handle a 10 amp fuse.. The windshield wiper fuse is a higher amp than that. Would it still be safe to use the one i have?
Mine said 10 amp as well but I used the windshield wiper fuse as well. I have 2 25 amp fuses on the fuse tap and it works fine for me.
