Sunbird radio install how-to:
Tools needed
T-15 driver, 10 MM socket, ratchet and short extension, 7mm nut driver
ANY NUT YOU TAKE OFF, THE BOLTS/STUDS ARE MERELY CLIPPED IN. BE CAREFUL!
First begin by grabing the cover under the column. (Steering wheel)
Pull it towards you, horizontally. (3 clips) They snap out.
After removing that piece, there's 2 7mm/T-15 screws to the right of the column that hold the radio bezel in. Remove those.
After removal, unscrew the screws closest to the column (one on the left, one on the right) holding the guage bezel. (T-15, or 7MM driver).
Gently grasp the drivers side piece (side) covering the casette/storage area (Above the shifter) and tug. It should come out easily. (again 4 clips). Do the same on the passenger side.
There's an L bracket on both sides holding the lower casette/storage compartment. Loosen, don't remove, the right (passenger side) nut (10mm).
Loosen the 2 nuts (T-15 or 7mm driver) under the radio housing.
The radio bezel should slide out.
(My cigarette lighter was loose, now is the time to tighten it)
The radio looks like it is screwed in, but the screws are push-in's with T-15 heads.
Gently pull the head unit out.
The plug from the Head Unit will eventually go back into the unit.
It goes in the bottom opening.
(You won't use it).
Behind the head unit, there is a silver box.
Your radio harness, and antenna are hooked up there.
It is labeled which wire is what.
Gently pull on the casette/storage holder cover under the radio. (The thing above the ashtray).
It will pop out (Again, 4 clips).
Look for the bottom of the silver box behind the radio. At the bottom, there is a 10MM nut. Loosen it, and remove. Lift the silver box up (there's a plastic dowel on the top left of the box).
(I was able to unscrew the silver box through the opening in my casette/storage area. You might have to remove the storage area).
To remove the storage area
remove the right L top bracket nut.
remove the left L top bracket nut.
remove both lower right and left bracket nuts.
remove the 2 T15/7mm bolts on each side of the lower storage area.
remove the casette player. (2 10mm nuts.)
If you do this, the ashtray light comes out with a 1/4 turn. CC (Counter Clockwise)
(I'd suggest not doing this, but I did cause I couldnt' find @!#$ on this. If you do, the wear marks on the brackets will more than likely NOT align up. It isn't like taking a hood, or trunk/hatch off, and simply realigning the marks up. Also, the left side has a NOTCH to align the bracket. Will take some time but it works. Retighten the upper nuts first, then the lower.
On the top right of the silver box, there is a plug. There's a tab in the center facing you. Depress it, and pull to the right. That is the "Main Radio" plug. This is the harness you need.... Also, disconnect the antenna from the silver box. You'll need that nifty GM mini adapter to convet it to regualr size.
This is where you'd hook up the aftermarket harness. The aftermarket harness labels what wire goes where. I'm not going into wiring.
I have an SE, and have a casette player and storage unit. While I had the cover for the tape player off, I used a sheetrock knife and scored the backside of the storage unit. After making all the scores, I snaped it out. My tape deck is still there.

Pics suck but...
