should i get back into db drag?
Saturday, February 24, 2007 2:32 PM
as you all know i have been re-doin my set up for about 2 years now. as of right now i have everything planed out as soon as my 7 grand comes in from tax's

should i do what i was goin to and run 2 bxi 2006's and 2 15's (half wall back seat) or should i do a set-max set up (4 12's in a wall) and get back into db drag. i don't have the time like i used to, but i can get a really good deal on a T3 audio eight.1 and for the guys that don't know the amp does 8000 rms at 1 ohm. i don't think anyone besides nate needs that much power but if you do the amps on preorder right now for $680.

I think it all depends on your life style, I thought I was done with spl but being away from it for 6 months I find myself just dying to get back in so I am lol you seem to know what you are doing so pick a class and dominate it IMO

if thats the samea s the adassa and cactus its the same as the atomic and the IA too. youll get 5kw out of it as thats the board it is . something is not adding up if he is claiming it to be more power. unless his claim of half the amp means it is two boards and you remember the fiasco on that. funny thing is all those companies up there are the same board right why does IA and cactus claim 4kw and adassa and atomic 5kw

The layout of the eight.1 is a bit different than the CS 5k and the Warlord. Compare the pics in Sweet's link with pics in ampguts for the cactus and adassa amps. Just because two amps have the same board doesn't mean that they'll clamp the same, because they could use completely different components. At any rate I'd be willing to bet that the eight.1's rating is at 17V.
Cactus makes both a 4kw and 5kw amp, and both use different boards. The original Atomic at-5000d apparently shared the same board as the Cactus 4k, and only put out 4kw. The new/upgraded Atomic 5ks are a couple of inches longer, and share the same board as the CS 5ks, and they apparently do a realworld 5kw.
People on Termpro have also tested the CS 5kw against the upgraded Atomic 5kw, and even though they have the same boards, they consistently hit ~0.5db higher with the Cactus amp. Guess that shows us just how much of a difference different components can make.
I've seen pics of the ia40.1 board, and it isn't the same as the CS/Atomic/Adassa 5ks. Perhaps it shares the same board as the CS 4k??

i have seen alot of post about amp's havin the same boards but one does 1000 watts more etc. it has a little more to do then just the board itself.

i really don't think the amp does a true 8000 rms more like 5000 but its still a good price. i sent t.3. a pm on termpro and asked him about that when he sends a pm back ill post it.

also a few people told me good things about all the amps that use that board and even if it is 4500-5000 watts you can't beat that for $680. $hit that would be better if i use 4 se/xxx's and ill know what power ill have since no one really knows what the bxi 2006's do.

It's a hellova deal for a ~5kw amp. The best I can get Atomic 5ks for is $900US - that's direct from George.
When you hear back from Demuth, post it up here. A couple of friends and I are seriously thinking of importing a half-dozen or so to play with in street, and we're still waiting to hear back from him as well. I just hope these T3 amps can take the abuse that the CS 5k can.

Definitely similar to the IA, but minor things are different, and those minor things will prolly add up to more amperage. They could also have it rated at 17 volts too.

Well I've checked the prices on them all
IA 980
Adassa 980
Atomic 900
And cactus was like 1400
christoph didnt seem to want to give me competitor pricing because i dont do a whole lot of competing.

Hey mark - what coils are you going with? I REALLY like my HK401SX's, you can get them for a good price, they'll do 1800@1/2ohm@14 volts and they'll go up even more at 17 volts. Or even an OPTI4000D would wang and it's in that price range too.

i have to get my 4 se's re-coned with XXX soft part's (se/xxx) it up's the sub's to around 1000 rms. i can get the 1+1 and 2+2 coils for them.

if its the same as the warload that wont be bad at all since i saw a few test and someone clamped it on a street c set up and it did 3400 watt's, 11 volt's, and 3.2 ohm's.

A buddy of mine just PMd me on another forum. He's been emailing back and forth with Demuth, and Jon told him that the eight.1 (apparently) uses the same board as the CS 7kw/Conqueror, and not the 5kw/Warlord board.
Can you confirm this Mark?

They look like the same boards, but with the 8.1 it has 4 more capacitors, and a much heavier wire coming for speaker leads as well as main power into the transformers. It also looks like the 8.1 is using much bigger fets as well.

for the most part it does some good power and is worth the price. he did send me a post back on termpro and asked me to delete my post since someone said something "that can hurt car audio".

when he sends me something back ill post it.

so who thinks i should pick one up raise there hands

mark i got some more info on it.
Talked to another guy who wa slooking at one of these. You need money up front and then once he has the "pre order" done he will place the order for the batch to get them built. You arent gonna see it til may time frame. he is pretty much getting every one who orders one to pay for his buy in it looks like.
