Hey wassup guys...
I have the 2006/7 model kicker L5 subs (12s). I was wondering wats a real good amp to have my subs subbing to there full potential without blowing the speakers.... I was thinking of a 1000 watt mono amp.. Wat do u advise?
I have a single 12" L5 run off of a kenwood amp that rms's right at about 1300W and it eats the power. Those subs will push anything you throw at them and they will love it. Also, a big factor in the sound will be what box you put it in, but a 1000W mono amp would do the trick if thats what your wanting to get.
do not put 1000 watts to those L5's I blew mine in a week, they take it for a bit but then cease, and no i didnt have the amp turned all the way it was only at half becuse just past half way the subs started to clip, I would suggest a really good 600 watt rms amp maybe the kicker 600.1
I've had mine for over a year....and it sounds better than the day I had it installed. WHy run 600w to a sub thats made to handle a hell of alot more.
well go ahead and run more not my subs I was just letting you know dont get all worked up if you want to run more then get L7's
Im not getting worked up, im just saying that I've ran a lot more power to mine for over a year and its never hurt anything.
oh lol then I must have had ones that were made on a friday or monday lol cause they pumped really hard for a week then all of a sudden one ceased and the other blew the cone off the spider lol, I was playing lil jon, get low

Let me start by saying I HATE that attitude. Someone comes on here for help and just because someone else says something different, you suddenly don't care. People have feelings too, ya know! Learn some respect; respect for others and for cars.
Anyways, the L5s are rated at 600W/each(RMS) and have a peak of 1200W. So, if you have 2, you should be good with a 1000W amp. I know Kicker under-rates everything. My 350.4 amp is rated at 394, for example. I worked at Circus City for alittle while and we had a nice L5 and I think it was 500W or 750W amp, but was just for one sub. If you wire them correctly and do everything right, you should't have a problem.

As for that excuse, makes no sense. Kicker and several(if not all) other companies put products through a rigirous testing process.
Sam
Ban low-performance cars, not high-performance ones.
I have 2 L7s in my truck powered by a 1200.1

hey sam calm eh I didnt mean any of that the way you put it, im just letting him know that my experience was bad so chill out, he wanted advice I gave mine, and as far as the made on friday or monday goes...well I worked in a factory and that was always a factory joke, you know cause your lazy on fridays and tired on mondays???? joke get it ? laugh, anyways Cordarrosader? pick what you feel makes you happy but like I said if you dont care then have fun and joy them but if you want them to last long and still sound decent I wouldnt bang 1000 watts itnto them daily..personaly
had 2 L7 12's powered by a brutus 1500w in a 5 cube box and had no problems.....also had 2 old school round solo 15's on that same amp and still no probs.....from my experience kicker makes a quality product. Not saying its top of the line but its surely not the bottom either.
Unless they changed things in 07, the 05 and 06 square kicker subs had major problems, including the Solo-x. The amps arent' bad, but they're very pricey.
My 06 solo baric L5 has had no problems and its been in the car for over a year.

x2
I can only hope Kicker fixed the cone problems for 07.
If you want these subs to last in a daily driver, don't give them much more than their rated RMS power. Solo-X included.

*wipes tears from eyes*
I haven't heard anything about the 07 drivers. If you've noticed, none of us big hitters are running kicker subs - RE, Lanzar, Stroker, Atomic, that's how we roll. Even under the RMS the kicker subs were separating, heck the solo-x, the flagship sub, was doing it.
tis y i had the 04 series....the silver ones
didnt know kenwood made a 1300 watt RMS amplifier. What model number is that.
KAC-9102D. Its listed anywhere from 700rms-900rms, but the paperwork that came witht he amp states that it is 1800w max, and 1300w rms when wired to do so.
It does 500x1@4 ohm, 850x1@2 ohm. There's no way that amp could do 1300 rms, unless you're running 17 volt to it, and i highly doubt that amp would handle it. Especially with a 2 30 amp fuses.
didnt want to say it but.........
DING DING DING
Well I didnt print up the box for it, or the paperwork, so im sorry
Just went outside and looked and I have the KAC 9152, dont know if that makes any difference or not
I got 4 L7 15's but only 2 of them are in the cav right now.. drawing up another digram to run all four in the trunk with out loosing my back seat in the sedan.. need it for a car seat.. but i have 2 batteries and 2 JL 1000/1 amps.. and 2 audiopipe digital caps.. i have the subs wired at 2 ohms.. and the work fine.. i don't have the amps turned up cause i use my Clarion EQ to control the frequencies.. sounds great to me
just riding around in the 4 door cav
