Can I put some sort of switch connected to my amp turn on lead so I can turn my amp on and off whenever I want?
Just asking this because sometimes when I get to college I stay in the car for a while in the parking lot listening to music and if I turn off the car the amp will consume the battery. I just want to listen to music without the car running, I would like to know if I can turn off the amp through a switch so I can still listen to music without having the amp on..
Just in case you ask, I'm talking about a subwoofer amp, it isn't powering my speakers.
Is this possible? Will this affect my amp? Any other suggestion......
yes it can be done with no problem. just get a 2 wire swicth and cut your current wire in half. then one end to each lead on the switch and your set. but. mot good headunits have a option to turn off the sub output?? maybe try that.

This is a great idea. We hid the switch in my friend's Firebird because the cops where he lives whine about stereos. So, we put the switch outta site and he actually got away with telling them the subs were unhooked a few times when they tried to get him for the noise ordinance.
What exactly are you doing spending so much time in your car waiting around for? LOL I get it... In college, waiting in a dark car in some parking lot.. Oh yeah I get it..

My first class is at 7:30am and I usually get there around 6:30am, so I just listen to the radio during that time before I get to my first class.
