infinity says the impediance of these speakers are 2 ohms. (for example, the 607.CS 6.5" component speaker set)
can i run them in 4 ohm so i can use a 4 channel amp?
i cant seem to find a 4 channel amp that will put out 4 channels in 2 ohms...only 4 channels in 4 ohms, or 2 channels in 2 ohms...so im wondering if the speaker will lose any durability by running in 4 ohm instead of 2.

my ma audio 4 channel does 2 ohms @ 4 channel. It runs 150x4 @ 4 ohms, 225x4@ 2 ohms rms. It's the ma audio m500xe or m500xl one of those two.
you won't have a problem running a 4 channel amp at 2 ohms on all channels, if you bridge it though you will not be able to .
well id need one that did around 110rms x4 @ 2ohm... 120 would be ok, but i wouldnt wanna push them more than 120. im paranoid like that.
i wasnt really LOOKING for specific examples persay... cuz infinity has an amp that puts out 110x4 @ FOUR ohm.... and since everything else i have is infinity...i wouldnt mind staying that way... (cept my sub amp anyway) but i didnt know if i would be better off keeping the mains at 2 ohm since infiniity says 2 ohm.

no im running 4 of them...4 2 ohm mains...4 2ohm...i need an amp thatll run 110 rms x4 @ 2ohm...which i couldnt find. i found one @ 4 ohm...thats why i wanted to make sure that its not bad for the speaker to run them @ 4 instead of 2, or maybe such an amp does exist.

The power output of the amp depends on the resistance on the speakers. If your speakers are rated @ 2ohms the amp will output the power it is rated @ 2ohms and vice versa for 4ohms. If they are 2ohm speakers, you cannot run them @ 4ohms. Find an amp that is stable @ both 2ohms and 4ohms and you will get the power that the amp is rated at @ 2ohms. hope this helps.
not really man, thats basics....which i know. but i do appreciate the thought, and the time anyway.
subwoofers that work on 2 ohm can run on 4ohm...i didnt know if mains run on the same principle.
and i also didnt find any amps that list any wattage output specifications for 4 channels in 2 ohm...so i didnt know if that was possible either, since i never tried it.

stereo is 2 channel man....not 4....but yeah...i see, it runs 4 channels in 2 ohm... im not crazy about MA audio... they have a reputation for being very inefficient, big power hogs. at least they used to be.
and yes, i do like infinity, that was why i was asking, they make an amp that does the exact wattage i need, cept at 4 ohm instead of 2...
i dont know how infinity's amps are...i just love their speakers.
