Install Radio and what is a good one.

I want to get a new radio and CD player. Did you think a novice can install the radio and what is a good one to buy? I am not into amps.
I am going to keep the stock speakers for a while. IS there a wiring kit I can buy?
Want to keep this install as simle as possible.

My car is a 98 4 door. Lots of space to fill up and easier to install I am sure.
Got any okay radio CD that would work good with my set up. Not going to go for anything too expensive with the speakers either.

Go to Circuit City and get the wiring harnesses and the dash kit for the car. The entire top dash and trim has to be removed to remove the radio. The dash kit will come with directions how to uninstall the factory radio. Get the wiring harnesses the plug into each other and then re-install.

As for the actual radio, pick out something you like. I personally like Pioneer, but it is all up to YOU since I am not driving your vehicle.

I like alpines and pioneers. Both well known companies with decent head units. Just make sure to stay over about $200 or so for a decent one. You can get them cheaper but I would recommend buying a nice one off the bat so you dont have to waste more money later.

OK will try Circuit City online since there isn't one in this area. Do they make a 6 CD changer? I don't see them when I am looking. Maybe they are way too expensive but it would be nice.

Re: Install Radio and what is a good one PLUS SPEAKERS now

Now I am wondering what kind of speakers I should use. I bought a Sony CDXW501. It seems okay to me. It has a CD player with satelite capable. I was wondering what speakers would be acceptable sticking with 9x6 in the back and what ever is good for the front.
I am not looking for high volume just something that sounds a lot better than what they put in there at the factory.

Go down to the local audio shop and listen. I personally like Kickers, but you may hate them. Listen to your friend's setups and see what they have. Pick on the pair you like, not what someone else is telling you to get.

THat is the best advice I have heard Sam! I will do that!
I am thinking a 12 CD changer by JVC in the trunk also. I hate changing CD's all the time.
As always, everyone that said something for this question gave good solid advice!

like said above..
the best thing you can do is:
1) go to a local car audioshop see what they have have the sales guy show you the sound difference with the speakers
2) it is important to stage the car as a Movie theathre. Highs and mid in the front and fill in the rear. ( you should amp the front if you use components ( keep in mind components usually cost around 200+ for good sound)speakers.)
3) spend the money on what sounds good to you and not what the sales guys tries to sell, you, hell try to sell you @!#$ in most cause to make a qiucl buck.
4) use your common snese and DO it right the first time..
5) think if you want add ons such as: cd, ipod, satelite radio, touch screen or not.
6) keep in mind you have to use compatible systems, ie: alpine with alpine, sony with sony, pioneer with pioneer.
not alpine with poineer. they wont interface, unless the are Fm Modulated, with ends being a hastle..
makes for and easier install..

7) plann out what you want them research get info and see if its in your budget..
the purchase if you want.

Good luck and if you need any advice please, please ask cause the more you know the more prepared you are and dont like like a tool for a sales guy to take unneccasry money out ur pocker
Good luck

3: the aftermarket monting braket(for ur make of car) get it at walmart also 17.99 i think

4 speakers if u only want sound u could go sony there ok but uneed 5x4s for the front i belive and 6x9's in the back

and the install itself well hook the speakers to the factory wires when u take the old ones out (ur gunna have to cut the stock clips off)
and the rest the books on the harness and the mounting braket will tell u everything(witch the books are included)

I have a brand new never used Kenwood. I'll wire up the harness and mount it to an install kit, so all you have to do is screw it into place. $100 + shipping from 15801. Email me if interested.
