Virtins MultiInstrument consists of a sound card dual trace oscilloscope, a real time spectrum analyzer, and a signal generator and can run them concurrently. It features a specially designed data acquisition approach, which is able to monitor the input signal continuously without missing any trigger event before a frame of data is collected. It has a very fast screen refresh rate. It supports sophisticated triggering method including pre-trigger and post-trigger. A comprehensive range of functions are provided, including waveform addition and subtraction, Lissajous Pattern, transient signal recording, voltmeter, RMS amplitude spectrum, relative amplitude spectrum, octave analysis(1/1,1/3,1/6,1/12,1/24),THD, THD+N, SNR, SINAD, peak hold, phase spectrum, auto correlation, cross correlation, function generation, multitone generation, arbitrary waveform generation, white noise and pink noise generation and sweep signal generation. It Supports 8, 16, 24 bits and multilingual user interface, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguess, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
As far as I know, we can't just jack 500 Watts straight into our soundcard. So how would this be of any use to us?
How much do RTA's (RealTime Analyzer?) cost. And where do you get them?
Threadjacking sort of, but it's leading toward me using this program so
Nm, I didn't read that right. I have a free O-Scope on my computer
Do you need a special mic?
im going with trueaudio.com the 1/6th octave though most would be fine with the 1/3 octive. i know of a couple of guys using this program and i trust their judgement, its a good alterntative to paying $1000-3000 for a real rta. as far as mic goes, the better mic you use the better results youlle get. im just going to use a cheapy mic for setup figuring either way it will still be allot better then trying to find the holes by ear.
this post also shows you how much attention we get as far as moderators cause it should have been locked last week lol

Unidirectional or omnidirectional, does it matter?
