In the process of making some MDF 6.5" speaker baffles to fit in the doors to replace of the 4x6 stock ones.
Does anyone know the distance of clearance from the metal of the door to the back of the plastic door panel?
We have the shape and layout done, just dont know how much room we have to work with, as my doors are no longer stock., they are cut up and fiberglassed.
Ive heard alot of people complain about the plastic baffles on the market, and how they fit like poop, that is where our CNC machine comes in handy.
With that final measurement we should have a product to offer in the next couple days.
easy 6.5" component installs in a jbody?
whaaa....gasp.....

my stock doors are tore apart from fiberglass, I need to know the measurement of clearance between the metal panel and plastic door panel.

I know what I have for inner door to window clearance, but I need the outer clearances.

Anyone? We want to get these out asap.
Being MDF they will be heavy duty and wont resonate.

We will be using 3/4" MDF for the primary mounting baffle. and then 1/4", 1/2" or 3/4" depending on the clearance between the door and door panel. We also want to make it small enough to allow for the driver to have moving clearance, but still clear the window.
Im guessing that 1.25" will have enough clearance for the motor and for cone movement. But I just need some conformation.
