Blown Sub

Ok Well i got my stereo setup a while back. I don't remember how long ago it was, but it was like a week after i got it installed. It sounded great and i was waiting to get some time to take it back and have them build me a new box..

Anyhow, like a month ago, i moved the speaker box one day for a trip, and suddenly they sounded weird. It hit really hard but had like a rattle to it. Just sounded like it was rattling the plastic. Iv had the bass turned down sense until i could get it back to the shop. So today i turned it up and the bass sounded crystal clear, but it was quieter than normal. Loud enough for listening, but not loud enough to shake the mirror off like before. So i figured the rattle was gone because the subs were set so low.

So i was putting grocerys away and saw that only one sub was hitting hard...The other was barely moving. It was def moving but not alot. So my guess is that that speaker was the source of the rattle sound all along. Because now that its dead, so is the rattle.

Its the Sub on the right that isn't working.

Any ideas as to why? Could it just be dead? Now im afraid Ike sound is gunna give me @!#$ and say i blew it up. But if i was to ruin the sub, wouldn't both have went...or both be @!#$ up? The other one is perfect...

Thanks guys

I'd put money on that you clipped em and one of them decided to blow.

Did you check the + to - on the sub? Maybe only one voice coil is moving?

take the subs out and visually inspect them. Make sure no wires came loose on the terminal when you were moving the stuff around.

Looks like you cranked it a good bit when you first got it. I'm just like every other guy, i like it loud, but loud + clipping = damage. Might not be immediate, but clipping causes heat and coils to do very bad things.
