Ok so i know my speaker amp isnt the greatest thing out there...but it works fairly well for the price i paid...or it did work...it started overheating at higher volume levels....it works like normal at lower levels, but when i turn it up...i wish i could explain how loud but i cant, it starts to get too hot and shuts off until the temperature goes back down...it never did this before when I first had it, so i was wondering if there is something i can do to maybe remove heat more efficiently...like build a box around it with some fans pushing air by it...or should i just go out and get another amp when i get some money...the amp is a pioneer GM-3100T...and no im not clipping and my gains are not turned up too high...or else this would have occured before would it not have? There is no audible distortion before the amp turns off either, it just turns off after its up too high for like a couple seonds...any help/suggestions is appreciated..

Check the ohms of your subs - you could be putting too much impedence to the amp. And your gains "could" be too high.
my Speakerssss are 4 ohms each and the amp is good down to 2 ohms when running off of 2 channels...and i will double check my gain but im 99% sure that they arnt too high because it should definatly be going louder than my headunit ... 60 watts > 27 watts...

are the speaker dual or single coils? if dual how are they ran?
single coils....they're just 6.5 inch coaxial speakers...4 ohms....each channel sees a 4 ohm load, unless one of my speakers is blown which im going to check as soon as i can find a DMM...but other than the chance that a speaker could be blown giving an inproper impedance, what else could cause overheating...? anything? ill let you know how the blown speaker theory turns out as soon as i check...i dont care if it is blown ive been lookin for an excuse to buy some nice components anyway

Where did you mount your amp and in what position?
I tried many mounting positions...it was on the back of my seat, seat down, it overheated...i flipped the seat up...overheated...i turned the amp 90degrees, overheated...i was going to build an cooling structure with some fans but i figure if i have to go that far theres something wrong with the amp or one of my speakers...

If you were having that many problems with it overheating, i would venture to guess the amp is bad.
that's what im thinking too, oh well, its a cheapo, i dont really care
time for some components and a new amp i guess...
