i keep hearing people talking about component this and component that.. what is it lol.
A component system is a woofer and tweeter seperate from one another. Usually includes a cross over to get the proper freq per speaker.
Example:
From soft jazz to blaring rock, component speaker systems offer the best possible sound quality for whatever you drive. By separating out the midbass drivers, tweeters, and crossovers, a component speaker system utilizes higher quality parts and more installation flexibility than standard full-range speakers. You can mount the midbass drivers in the factory location, while the tweeters can be precisely aimed for a pinpoint soundstage and spine-tingling audio realism. Component speakers also handle the most power, can usually
play the loudest, and are an ideal match for high power subwoofers. (sounddomain)
This is as opposed to coaxial speakers that have the tweeter and woofer together in one assembly.
Example:
Full-range speakers come in 2, 3, or 4-way, with 2-way being the most common. A 2-way speaker consists of a tweeter (reproducing high frequencies) mounted in front of a woofer (reproducing low frequencies). 3-way speakers add another driver, which usually handles the midranges. 4-way speakers add a "super-tweeter" for extended high frequency reproduction. Full-range speakers are relatively easy to install, because they are designed to drop into the factory speaker openings.
Oh, and please fill out your profile.
Basically, if you have the $$$ and are serious about quality sound, go with component speakers.

ok so like.. id need 4x6's and 6x9's right? how much is all that? Whats a website where i can find them?
i would have some MDF baffles made to mount 6.5 inch woofers where ur 4X6's were, get a good set of 6.5 inch components, mount the tweeter wherever sounds best to you (2 sided tape and moving them around to listen is the best way to figure this out), get a nice amp to push them, and then either leave the factory 6x9's running off the head unit, or remove them all together, that actualy alows those holes to vent some bass from any subs into the cabin...a good front stage will give you the proper sound and best sound u need, no need for the rears realy, if any kind of rear fill is desired possibly for a lil more sound for rear passengers, i would say keep stockers back there, fade to the front a bit so the front stage takes care of most of the sound...what kind of budget would you have for say just the components and amp for them? this will give us a little info to work with to recomend some specific products to you
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn
Here is a picture of the 4x6 speakers in your doors.
Here is a picture of the 6.5" component set I replaced them with. There are Infiity Kappa.
Since the speakers in your door are square, and the 6.5" are round, you will need to make an adapter plate out of something (most people use MDF board).
Mounted in the door.
Like JLAudioCavalier said, you probably don't need aftermarket 6x9s. You want quality speakers upfront, and subs in the back. Most people don't have any speakers in the back, but some just leave their stock one there runnign off the headunit.

ok cool, well that'll save me money/time getting new 6x9's so i guess ill just remove them

thanks very much for the detailed explanation. So im thinking all ill need is the 2 6.5" subs and the tweaters, Im not good with like brands and stuff so may i ask where you got yours lol
oops forgot to answer your question bout the budget and stuff, well for a whole system im looking at $1400, thats for 2 subs, probably 12"ers, amp, HU, and those 6.5" speakers. Yall mentioned some subs in another thread i started, i think it was you JL, im looking for sound quality over loudness, what subs/HU/amp/compo's would you recommend for that kind of budget, if its a little over its ok, i can just wait for anothe paycheck or 2. But $1400 is on the higher end of what i wanna spend. If something good is possible for $1000 that woudl be better.
