question about my 2002 cavy
Tuesday, May 02, 2006 8:13 AM
I have a 2002 cavalier base coupe. I want to know if the factory radio (equipped with CD player) has an auxillary input. I don't want to get a new head unit but I would like to be able to integrate a different audio source (mp3, xm radio reciever, laptop, etc) into it. I can find adapters and everything but they all say that they need to be plugged in to the auxilary thingy lol

NO, well atleast cav's don't, i've seen some sunfires with the monsoon package have and aux, input in the front of the factory radio, as far as ours, i have the same year, No, its just better to upgrade anyway, better sound and clarity

just riding around in the 4 door cav

i'm not sure but i can check for you, I think I remember seeing another plug in the back of my stereo (01 Cavy RDS AM/FM,CD,Tape) but I think that might be for a cd changer.

if you have a radio with RDS, i THINK that you have an auxiliary plug-in

Ok. The other thing I could do is get a new deck that is iPod ready and has an auxilary port. But for some reason all the sights say that their decks (poineer, alpine, dual, etc...) aren't compatible with a 2002 cavalier. If I bought a deck and had them install it at Best Buy do you think that they could get around that problem? If it matters, I don't care about the dinging noise and stuff.

i work at circuit city in the install bay and you can put a radio in those cars with no problem. i have an 02 sunfire with aftermarket everything and have never ran into a problem. Some shops may have you buy the piece to keep the factory chime but you really don't need it. The best thing about the factory chime piece is it gives you an switched power line because the factory radio harness doesn't have any switched power in it, but go ahead and get you an aftermarket radio. it will sound alot better and have better clarity.
