$200 install?

$200 just to install a deck are u serious? i was just told that with sunfires everything is run with factory stereo air bags etc... so i have to relocate my factory stereo into trunk or extra $50 and get special chip? what a pain.

Not true, the FAQ has info on this. WIthout the factory HU you will loose all the chimes, but not the functionality of the airbags and such. Install it yourself and save the money.

easiest way to do it, is get a metra harness, and match the colors between the harness and the stereo, Wrap the wires together, as tight as possible and wrap with electrical tape.

I works, but is not the best way. The best way you need tools and a bit of practice.

i didn't know anything about installing stereos when i first started. 6-7 years later, i've installed more stereos in more cars than i can remember. its fairly simple once you get the dash apart and your harness/mounting kit set up. we can walk you through it pretty much step by step. just try it. you'll save money and learn how to do something yourself. knowledge is priceless...

HOWEVER!!!!! If you have a Monsoon system in your S-Fire you will need a $100 harness, it is the Metra GMOS04, so you can use the factory amp.

Hey just post in the regional forum that you need someone to do an istall for ya. Theres plenty of people willing to help, and sure it would be for a hell of a lot less than 200. I'd give you a hand but I'm a bit far from london. But I'm sure theres someone in the area

with a harness, installing a deck is a snap, without it, you just gotta know what each wire is for. www.the12volt.com helps alot

Well, there is a GEO tracker. It's like the baby brother of a Jeep.

What year is your Sunfire? We have tried to get a regular harness to work on a 2003 Sunfire w/ Monsoon and it would not work correctly.

hmmmm.... I am confused, and the Blonde genius that is me,

you can use the regular harness (5$) with the monsoon but the only thing you have to is connect the amp turn on wire to a 12V power source and it'll turn on. Its an extra step to the regular install thats it!

And the Monsoon only comes in a Sunfire, so that is why I asked.

I installed a Sunfire body harness w/ Monsoon into my vert.... out of a 2001 Sunfire. I don't "do" car audio anymore... so I went with the best stock speakers.

I did tie the blue remote turn on, to the pink monsoon remote wire. It works fine.

so the factory amp, class 2 data bus had no issues with your after market HU?

just plugged it in and powered the amp?

Hmmm, so how did your HU turn on without a accessory wire?

I got a quick question about this subject, sorry for butting in. I got my HU changed the day after I drove my car off the lot in 04, and that was when everyone thought you had to relocate the OEM to the trunk, and now I have a 12" sub and am laying some sound matting and am wondering what to do with this old POS.
I dont really want to take it out and have to rewire everything, so does anyone have any suggestions of how to mount this thing so it doesn't rattle and bounce around, cause I discovered the guys just threw it behind the carpet and let it roam around free bangin against my fender. Thanks in advance guys.
