Switched speakers

No no, i still use infinity, and recently upgraded my front speakers to components, but there is nothing wrong with my old ones. I have an extra set of 4x6"s and 6.5"s in still great condition. I know exactly where i want to put them, and already working on theire enclosures. HOWEVER, i would like to be able to be put on a switch or something along those lines. So they are not on when not needed. Something for the shows.

Is there a way i can just wire a toggle inline with the speakers to turn them on and off anytime i want? If so, Which side do i put the switch on, positive or negitive?
And if i have a crossover, i assume i would put it after the switch, not before?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing i can think of is if you amp them and have a switch on the remote wire.

That seems easiest to me.

Just making sure here: you're wanting to have an 8 speaker setup, with the ability to turn off 4 of them with a switch.

Will the 4 constant on ones be amped? It'd probably sound like crap to have 4 amped and 4 unamped speakers playing at the same time (probably wouldn't sound great having 8 speakers in the first place, but for power purposes, sure... BUT if you were going for power, you would amp both sets and the original suggestion would be easily done).

If you're not amping the switched speakers, the only thing I can think of to do would be to put a switch for each speaker and mount them close together. If you had just one switch, there'd only be one signal for all the speakers and you'd not be in stereo anymore. Maybe you could set up some relays or something to make it work from one switch, I don't know much in that area.
