complete alpine stereo or no?

I was thinking of building a complete alpine stereo just to keep it in the brand, is this a good idea? or would it be wise to mix brands?

Well alpine is a good choice to go with but youllfind it is very expensive to go with straight alpine..you will find some companies will prvide the same if not better results for less money..also depends on how you like things to sound..phil

Alpine makes some awesome stuff. Go for it. Their Type-R subs are excellent, and so are their headunits. I like the idea of going with all the same brand.

if you can afford it and you like alpine than go all alpine you wont be dissapointed, alpine is the best in the world as far as head units go, everything else is just a personal opinion, the subs and components are great, amps are good but there are others for less cost and more power but its a personal choice i think

If I were to do it all over again I would have gone all Alpine, not that I'm not extremely happy with my setup, its just that the Alpine stuff is so good.

Alpine is completely solid all the way around.

1. They never overate their amps.

2. They have fantastic Prices on their Stuff people.. I have no clue where the expensive bs is ocming from... Unless you are dishing out 20k for the perfect F1 setup.... :p

3. Best HU's on the market. Yes I enjoy them over Eclispe stuff.

4. The Type R Component speaker setups can compete with my CL62 CDT's. Not to mention a whole bunch cheaper.....

You can not really go wrong with Alpine.

i look at it as picking 4 man team to run a relay. would i rather pick one family and just go with the 4 people there. maybe dad is overweight and little sister is 4 and can't really run well. or would i rather hand pick the 4 best people i can find? i'd prefer to hand pick my runners to get the best out of each one.

I'll tell you what I love my alpine equipment and would never give it up for anything. I have a full type-s system in the car right now and I love the way it sounds. On top of that I thing I paid around $600 and that includes everything to install it all.

His comparision would make sense if it could apply to Alpine... There is no "FAT" father in the Alpine family..... There is no real "weakpoints", except that they do not make useless insane output amps like a US 2000SX, or HiF Collosus...You have to understand they build what they build for the musical experience.. NOT the blow your brians out with BASS SPL factor... (which they can still do if that is your desire..) This IS something you come to undestand after awhile in the whole "car audio" hobby.

Well i see that most of you are on the same side as me... heres my plan (alpine or mix) for the distant future:

HU: Alpine IVA D310 (best DVD player with screen that alpine makes)
or just the best non DVD, CD player

Navigation Alpine (maybe)

Speakers - #1alpine
#2infinity

Sub - #1 Alpine
#2 Kicker
#3 JL

Amps - #1 Alpine
#2 JL

It'll probably be all alpine and i'll make a special trunk setup so that it'll look professional kind of like the show cars.

My system will be an Alpine Type-R system when it gets finished.
HU - CDA-9847
Subs - 2 Type R SWR-1242D
Front - 6.5 components SPR-17LS
Rear - 6x9 Coaxial SPR-69LP
Amps - Mono MRD-M605 or MRD-M1005
- 4 channel MRV-F345 or MRV-345
(see sig)

Their headunits are amazing. I particularly like them because they aren't as busy looking as lots of HU's out there.

I personally wanted a IVA D310 cause they are awesome but I decided that i'm gonna build a carputer. So If I want to keep my headunit, i'll run the sound from the speaker out on the carputer to the aux in of the headunit and if I don't want to keep the headunit, i'll run 5.1 channel surround sound off the sound card from the computer straight to the amps. Can't beat 250 gigs of available space for music, dvds and anything else you want.

I'd stick with alpine. They make good products.

well since everyones hearing is diffrent. i dont nessicarily hear the same way you do. your definition of a fat father and my definition of a fat father could be two diffrent things. if someone listening to alpines f1 gear couldnt tell the diffrence between a competitors brand does that make the alpine better since it most likely will cost twice as much. for that person? whave ive come to understand after 16 years in this hobby is that there is no "BEST" brand, in reality its more like there are "TRENDY" brands, and this is the season for alpine being the trendy product. and ive never built an spl car. ive alwasy been about sound quality.

People who chose to play on the SPL end of the audio spectrum (including me) would consider the fact that Alpine does not have an SPL element a very large "weakpoint". For someone to be competitive in SPL you need everything that Alpine lacks - monster subwoofers and the "useless insane output" amps that you speak of. If you looked at it from my side of the argument, an SPLer could easily consider your 12" sub and relatively small amplifiers equally as "useless" - what's useless to you may not be useless to someone else (and vice versa). Not everyone is into SQ - those who are into SPL need to look to companies other than alpine for competitive subs and amps. Type-rs and type-xs are NOT SPL subwoofers; sure they can do reasonably well in the right enclosure (ie TCAB), but they aren't comparable to the MTs/9500s/Juggernauts of the audio world. Their decks can handle high SPL pretty well, but their amps are nowhere near powerful enough to be considered competition worthy.

Even with that said, I see nothing wrong with going all Alpine if that's what you want. I've always loved seeing matching amps, signal processors, crossovers etc compared to mix-and-match systems. The fact that you can get good bang-for-your buck out of Alpine doesn't hurt, either. However, I have to agree with sndsgood - I also prefer to handpick my gear to get exactly what I want. I just happen to be into SPL, and hell will freeze over before I traded my stroker for 15" type-rs. However, they would be pretty high on my list if I ever switched back into SQ. At the moment, I'm happy with my choice

The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.
