I have my system in and hooked up but i think its not bumping as hard as it could.
I have:
-Pioneer Premier CD player
-1000 watt red series Legacy amp, 4-channel
-Rockford Fosgate P1 sub in a Q-logic box
-(2) Kicker 6x9's
-2 gauge power cable (with inline fuse), but a tiny ground wire (does that matter?)
right now i have the rockford bridged on the first 2 channels, and the 6x9's hooked up on the 3rd and 4th channels
do you guys have any suggestions?

i was told u have to have the same gauge ground as ur power wire.
1998 Sunfire, 2.2L auto
why do u have a 4 channel for one sub? should of just got a mono channel sub
ahh long story, i bought online and they sent me the 4 channel amp when i didnt even order it, i had originally ordered an 800 watt 2 channel
so i figured what the hell and kept it
but i am looking into finding a new amp, btw you have mail deputy.

2 guage

thats thicker than my ---*#$ lol, j/k, but ya, you should have the same size ground wire.
1000 watt Legacy amp = max 4x250
RMS pry is like 4x50
its recommended on the12volt.com that you have at least the same gauge or higher of ground wire as your power wire. The better the ground..... the better?

IMO the ported boxes are better... if you want louder bass... if you want cleaner, sealed is the best. I noticed with my ported kenwoods that the bass is a hell of alot louder, but its not as clean, whereas ported was right to the beat.
Get a monoblock amp for the sub. (Something better quality than a Legacy would be a good idea too.)
Get a shop to build you a box instead of using a prefab.
Upgrade the ground to a 4 gauge, you can use a 2 gauge if you want but it would be overkill.

Seeing as you bought a legacy amp, your head unit puts out more power than the amp. 8 gauge wire is plenty big enough for that amp. My suggestion is don't buy crap.

thanks for the info, i want to get a ported fiberglass box, and i'll be looking for thicker gauge wire.

ouch, that flame hurt........i was told by a couple people that legacy had quality amps, and at the time i was looking for something cheap. i am upgrading to rockford soon enough. and remember i started this thread to ask how i should hook it up the best, not to be told my stuff is crap it doesnt really help me out at all.
