Sup jboers! I have finally upgraded my system and here is what I got.(Pics)
Does anyone know if the enclosure will be good for the Solobaric? The box was made by Kicker and it's slot ported. I will measure it if that will help. The sub is DVC 4 Ohm so I plan on running it at 2 Ohm. Thats about 700 x 1 @ 2 Ohm from the amp. Sound Good? The sub's max wattage is 1200 RMS 600. I dont think I need to upgrade my bat or anything nor do i need a cap, but we shall see. Comments and Suggestions welcome.

Looks good. You might want to do the "Big 3" upgrade.
Anymore opinions or suggestions?

I thought you are not supposed to use poly fill in a ported box.

I was just gonna say you might want to get rid of that poly fill.

i think kicker puts that in there but you can use it if it's in big peace's the reason people say don't use it because it will blow out but in his case it will be fine.
just upgrade the big 3 like said above. the box look's like its a little over 2 cubes and thats ok for that sub. what type of head unit, mids and mid amp do ya have?
My boxes are only 1.2 cubit feet each and they are sealed, it is reconmended to be .8-2 cubic feet for a sealed box. Vented or Ported boxes for 12" L7s are supposed to be 1.75-3.25. These are numbers from my manual.
Also, run your coils in parralel for a 2ohm load. But Im sure you already know this.

No matter what kind of enclosure you have, it should always have damping. STANDING WAVES!
you snooze you lose!
keep working, millions on welfare depend on you!
do you guys actually know why you add damping material? doesnt sound like it!
mecp certified installer#39272
its not to get rid of standing waves lol.
I'm not even going to bother saying it this time.

Thanks for the input guys! My HU is a Sony 8805X CD/MP3
I have Sony 6x9's in rear deck and Sony 4x6 in the doors.
I was thinking about amping them but they sound pretty loud with just the HU.
I have Power Acoustik tweets in the A-pillars also.
Should I amp these too? Also oddly enough my lights don dim or anything when the bass hits, so so i really need to do the Big 3? I have a cap ready if needed and Im in the process of getting a Red Top if needed.
Suggestions?
Would this setup hold its on in a local sound-off competition?
Are we talking SPL or SQ?

It depends on your area. Some area's maybe, in my area, no way.

n8ball, Please. Tell me what its for then. LOL I would love to here what you can make up in your head. Damping in a speaker enclosure is used to absorb standing waves, plain and simple.

Stuffing polyfill into a sub box does alot more than just reduce internal reflections and standing waves, revvin.
If you can manage to find the article that Tom Nousaine wrote in the 1995 March/April edition of Car Stereo Review, that will shed some light on the biggest benefit of using polyfill (especially for sealed boxes).
Here's one link to the article, but it won't open on my computer:

If someone out there has a link to that article that actually works, please post it.
The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.
the main reason people use polfil is to slow the waves down so it trick's the sub in thinkin that it's in a bigger box

RE Audio
LOL "polyfill or not to polyfill......that is the question"
Anyways, with this setup tuned correctly, what am I looking like with SPL or SQ or DB? What are the possibilities?
Thanks for the comments so far!!

oh damn i totally missed this. oh well mark tag you're in.
Ooh oooh tag me in tag me in. ::stands up:: The polyfill is there so when the speaker gets tired, it has something soft to sleep on.
It does slow the waves down fooling said speaker in thinking it's in a bigger box.
