OKay so i got a new set of underglow and it comes with a wireless remote and on the back of the control box it has a wire that says antenna on it but its only 6" long. I also plan on hiding the control box and just using the remote to control the whole thing so do i just have to extend that wire and run it along my a pillar or something to get good reception or do i have to get a actual antenna for it to work.

Chances are good that the wire that comes with it is enough, as long as you put it high enough up inside the vehicle (under the dash is good, if you tuck it up high), and lead that wire upwards towards the glass.

Metal things (frame, wires, etc) will reduce the range on that wire antenna. You might try adding to it, but it may affect the unit. Hard to say.
