I'm powering 2 older alpine 12" type R's, with dual 4 ohm coils. I've heard the MRDM 1000 powering 2 of these same subs and the sound was just nuts. Infinity has a good name, the REF1211a looks promising @ 1300 watts rms x 2 ohms. While the new alpine MRDM1005 is promising 1000 watts rms x 2 ohm. My goal obviously is loud, but most importantly clean. I plan on running a sealed box. probably .75-1 cubic foot

Gonna give each one of the Type Rs one each... but they are the new ones.. not sure about the old ones.. but it doesnt get much better than Alpine.. that and im just not a huge Infinity fan.. good luck, either one is a great choice
