Music is spiking and fading ?
Thursday, December 29, 2005 7:32 AM
Hi,

I just had another JL Audio amp and capacitor added to my system. Worked great for 2 weeks with no problems but the last few days it seems to be acting strange...

What's happening is that the sound will "spike" (get louder) for about 3-4 seconds, then seems to dip lower and lower if I slow down at a light, etc.

But after the car has been on for awhile, seems to go away completely. Only does this once or twice per day.

Any ideas before i bring it to my sound guy only to have it act just fine while he is in the car?

Thanks!

Try disconnecting the capacitor.

sounds like the alternator to me. slowing down you spin it slower and generate a little less current, which in turn the capacitor might discharge to make up for it. but u might wanna get the alternator checked out just in case.

maybe your ground connections worked themselves loose. check them out, make sure the connections are very tight and the contact points are very clean
