I have a Alpine SWR-1242D and it's gonna be in a ported box. I was wondering if this would be a good amp match for the sub. I read that it's 800W RMS @2ohm. which is what the sub would be at. I just wanted to see what people think of this amp? please let me know.

Depends on how much you are paying for it. There are a lot of better amps for that price if you are getting ready to buy it online. Audiobahn stuff gets really bad reviews by anyone that is actually bench testing it and not by what their homies said.

I would try to steer clear of audiobahn, if you wanna get better quality stuff check out ikesound.com they have a lot of refurbs. I picked up a directed 1500d that at 2 ohms is rated for 800 watts rms, similar to what the audiobahn claims. And I benched it at 996watts. It is rated for 1100 at 1 ohm if you would want to add another 12 later on down the road and I am sure it would surpass that rating as well. And as for it being a refurb, it comes with a 6 month warranty from directed so if it doesn't fry within the first 6 months it probably wont unless it is abused. All for 135 bucks.

That is just one example of good quality stuff you can get if you look around. Audiobahn tends to overrate their products, I have read several consumer reviews that also say they think their audiobahn amp doesn't put out what it should, but that it hangin in there ok. Car audio magazine reviewed one here and they weren't impressed, but they do a lot of reviews on good high end stuff too.

I don't know, if you get it let me know because I am tryin to start up a stictly consumer based car audio review website and would like your input on how you think it sounds if you get it.

Agreed,if you can get it for a decent price itd be a nice amp just tune the amp properly b/c the new type R's handle 500rms,i kno i ordered a 8000t for my buddy threw my work and it was only $115 and he has it ran to a mtx 8500 12'' and its excellent. If your paying more than $250 for it id go w/ an mtx, orion, phoenix gold or memphis IF you can get them for a go0d price. As long as you have a halfway decent amp that does around 500rms that sub will slam,go0d luck
