hooking 2 devices to a single input on a headunit?

This isn't really j-body oriented, but i'm trying to help a friend out. He's got a flip-up DVD player in his Nissan Xterra, but he didn't get the "brain" with it, so he has the output of the dvd player hooked to the input of a CD player/headunit.

The CD Player/headunit only has 1 input. He plays his cd's and everything through the dvd player, it's more convenient for him.

he bought a harman/kardon Drive + Play (DP1US) to interface his iPod to his vehicle's audio system.

Now the problem. As I stated before, his headunit only has 1 input, which is taken by the DVD player. How can he add another input and keep good audio quality? The harman/kardon unit has a built in wireless FM Modulator. Since it's wireless, as he's driving around, it cuts in and out, and the quality deteriorates, etc.

Is there something he can get to put 2 aux devices on 1 input? I was thinking he could try RCA Y-adapters, and just hook the RCA's to the input on the HU. Would this work?

He was told his other option would be to get a hard wired FM-modulator ... which still wouldn't be good quality... but it wouldn't cut out like the wireless one.

Thanks for any help or suggestions!!
