REALLY NEED HELP WITH DIODES.

I was under the understanding that i took the wires i need'ed for my pin switch and find out what the polarity they are and then contact the diodes in the wires and be done.

something like this

But now looking on the net i see this???,so i take the wire from the alarm and connect both Cathode ends to that wire from the alarm and then the Anode ends connect in to the the wires i need

I really thought i had it all figured out,but it makes sense that the alarm brain needs to see witch door is open are not.

Diodes have polarity. The second picture is correct, except it doesn't show the wires continuing to their normal places.

I connected mine right behind the door hinges where the wires come through into the cabin.

You want to splice in the new alarm wire, reconnecting the old wire just as it was before. Then put the new wire to the diode (or you can omit the "new wire" and slpice the diode directly to the old wire). The new wire continues to the alarm device.

The anode go to the "old wire" side, the cathode goes to the "new/alarm wire" side. If you put them in backward the alarm will not go off when you open the door; no biggie, just switch them around. (Other cars non-j-bodies this may be backward).

If you don't use the diodes then the car will not be able to distinguish between the two doors, and if you have the keys in the car the passenger door being open will make it ding. Do leaving the diodes out doesn't make a huge difference, just little annoyances.

the second one makes more sense, cuz you really don;t need to cut the trigger wires, just splice the diode in , and the other end of diode you can tie together, and the that can go to your triger on you car alarm.......

Now the question is do you guys happen to have pics on hand witch blue/green wires are for my door pins.

i found them before but for got to make them, and with all those damn blue/green wires i don't know LOL now

i did find the blue one thow because i know where the copper is comming out thats where my prob was.

also is that good forum 12volt.com

They are bundled in with the speaker wires on both sides. They're taped up separate from any other bundles.
