I have a autopage rs 855 and well it has a out-put for my trunk.But i was told i need a relay because it draws to much current.
i want to know if someone has a diagram of what pins i use on the relay if i need one
if the alarm has a negative output, you want to hook the alarm output to pin 85, 12V to 86 and 87, and connect the trunk solenoid to pin 30. this is for a SPDT relay.
Thanks alot yes i'll be using a spiked relay thow, and i thought when you use one off those 86 is always ground???
and when you say 12v to 86-87 you mean you want me to jump it from pin to pin
Yes, just connect a positive 12 volts to 86, and then jumper the 86 pin to the 87 pin. That way they will both be getting +12 volts.

I don't know why i don't understand it,but the black/white truck wire has to be cut in half right???,so what pin does the other half contact onto.To make it a complete circuit

You don't cut the trunk wire. You splice to it.
LOL, splicing involves cutting. I think he means strip the trunk wire, and then solder the other wire on to it.

I've got the answer for you. I'm assuming by how you're talking, that you have some sort of trunk release button already inside your car. If thats the case. When you cut the wire going to the trunk popper, the wire on the side of the trunk popper connects to 30, the other side will connect to 87a. (N/C) means normally closed, so when a current goes to 87a it passes right through to 30. So that way you're interior trunk release button will still work, and when you press the button on your alarm, it'll open the trunk as well.

No i don't my friend,the only way for me to get into my trunk is to either use the key-less entry are the key.I really don't know why i don't have one when basic cavys have them and if the Z24 was high-end back then,i would have one.

ok, relays are simple once you understand.
85 is always (-)
86 is always (+)
87 is input
30 is output
there is a definite lack of correctness in terms there, but i want you to understand as easy as possible.....ok, moving on
as you can see 85/86 are a motor that moves a switch
30 rests on 87a
once power is applied 30 contacts 87
you can pretend 87a doesnt even exist for this one
one of 85/86 has to be powered alltime. you have a (-) trigger here--autopage trunk pop--
so we will power the opposite side of the motor (85/86) remember 85-/86+ always?
trunk pop wire goes to 85
powering opposite motor side alltime>>12volts+ goes to 86
the wire from your alarm is a momentary pulse so the only time the relay will be active is when it completes the circuit(pulses)
for our puposes here, we'll say 30 is always out put. what do you want to do? pop trunk.
so tie trunk pop wire into 30
now you can see from the picture that 30 and 87 contact when the relay is powered...we have output, now input. we want to send 12v+ to the trunk pop wire, so connect 87 to 86.
you are just sharing the alltime 12v+ that there already

heh.
I just use butt connectors. Cut the wire in half. Put one end in one end of the connector. Put the other end and the wire I'm "splicing" in into the other end.
I don't do solder.
