Does anyone know if this sub will handle a constant power of 900 watts. I'm gonna be buying one and puttin it in my car. I was wondering if it would handle this power. My Amp is 500watt RMS @4ohm and 900 watt RMS @2ohm. It will be in a sealed box. I want to use my amp at 2ohm and i love the type r's I'm running 500watt now to my old style type R. please help me out with this.

wo way, get the dual 2ohm version and run it at 4ohm. Or get a Type-X

i have a 12" MTX 8000 sub that runs about 450 rms and max at 1000w i will sell to ya, never used it. i got 2 of them, then decided it would be too much... havent been able to hook either up due to my headunit sucking... (RCA's are janky)
interested?
I like my alpines. I hooked up my cousins 10" type x to my amp and that was a joke. I think the sub laughed at my amp. my amp is a sony xm-d1000p5 so I wasnt sure if it was a lil under rated or not.

for 1 sealed boxes are less efficient and generaly want more power, for 2 if u just keep everything adjusted right and dont max everything out, you should be fine anyway, and for 3, its a sony amp so if it says 900, its probly only putting out like 45 lol. but seriously, i think your perfectly fine, but i would get a better amp any way
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
i had lots of toys when i was young.slinky,etc.but once i found my penis, that was all she wrote
i was going to ask if it was a sony. sony amps put out alot of distortion so be careful with it, is it the amp thats 5 or 6 sided? i remember a customer coming in circuit city when i worked there with a blown sub and the only sub the sony amp wouldnt blow was the sony subs they sold there.
women are like cars you have to test drive the new one before you trade in the old one
You'll be fine with 900 watts rms to it. There's a guy who hit 150+ db on 2000 watts rms with a single type r 15.

Yea it's the pentagon style. I've went everywhere and the ratings are 500RMS @4ohm and 900RMS at 2ohm. I had this amp pushin 3 older style type r 12's at 2 ohm and it did great. thats why i was wondering what to do.

I still vote Type-X, get the most you can out of it
I ran my single older 10" Type-R with 400w and I've got a friend running a JBL BP1200.1 @ 1ohm to 2 12" older Type-Rs. They will take the power just be sure to set your gain properly, otherwise a couple of clips and your sub will be smokin.....

A type R will handle a Sony amp... sony amps put out nowhere near what they are rated for.

Itll take more than 900wrms Mark Potts from TCAB is who did that.. hes building my box and helping with my setup all alpine.. so lets home for the same results.. ill be putting 1kw to each rms..

I may get flamed.. but
Type-R > Type-X b/c R will do just as much with less money for them and less power to them.. but as ive posted the X SQ is just as high if not higher than R.. but if your on a budget id stick with 2 12" Rs w/ 1000wrms each than one 12" Type X with 2000w to it.. just me though

Ok now with the type R what would I be better going with Box wise for bass. I'm just gonna keep my amp that I have now and run 1 R at 2 ohm. I was thinkin just go ported so i get more bass from it. but I wanna hear everyone elses response b4 hand. I have always had sealed boxes I wanna try something different.

cousin has a 10" type X with a alpine MRD 1005 pushin it and it's a Joke I think. it's not loud at all. my girlfriend has a memphis pr.400 pushin one of my old swr 1241's at 2 ohm and does a hella better job!
