I bought this piece o' garbage when I shaved my antenna and just got around to installing it. I ran the wire all the way into the trunk and put this thing right near where the old antenna used to be (and all wiring is correct, the ground and 12v source wire).
But I can't pick up %$#@! with this thing. Is there a better brand or somewhere else I can mount it?
I never would have shaved my antenna if I had known this. I listen to XM 95% of the time, but I like everything to be functional, otherwise there is no point in my opinion...
Whoever solves this one for me gets a free set of magnetic hood inserts OR a free CF dimmer panel cover (with icons).
Put it under your back deck. Make sure there's a gap in between the antennae and the metal, or else the reception is bad. You can either put it under the carpeted back deck, or underneath in the trunk.

Hahahaha... Hey stupid!
When you were in school, you were post to pay attention.
This antenna will not pick up where you have it mounted. It needs to be mounted away from metal. I am assuming you know it will only work for FM and you will loose AM reception. The only things I can think of, if you want to keep the hidden antenna, is to mount it under the back deck, keeping it away from the body of the car, this was already suggested, or in the upper portion of the back window. This was also suggested. Putting it in the window would be the best bet, but I don't see how they think it is a hidden antenna with it mounted there where someone can see it. You will get better reception in the upper window. Some loss of signal will be noticed since the antenna is no longer on the outside of the vehicle. It would be just like having a windshield antenna versus an external antenna. External antenna receive signals better since there is no metal around the mast. Hope this gives you some info and helps.

I had one, didn't work for @!#$, I got better reception touching the end of the antenna wire with my hand, lol. never did get it to work right, everything always sounded like an old AM radio.

Well i have always heard that they shouodl be mounted in a corner of a window for the bet reception.
I am planning on doing this myself, so hopefully when you move it it wil work great. I too listen to Sirius almost 100% of the time but sometimes i like to listen to local radio, and i believe there is a hidden antenna that will work with FM and AM, im sure i seen one somewhere.

Did u think of putting it under the dash - instead of going all the way back, put it underneath ur dash (not down near the floor) just under the main piece like if u were to take ur dash off. I hope that makes sense.

I had one put into my first car cuz it didn't have an antenna or even a radio, it was a 1974 Ford Pinto, Yes the one that is a bomb on wheels, and the place that mounted it mounted it under the dash on part of the heater ducts. It worked quite well. I never really had much difficulty picking up signals.
I think I'll try that this weekend (mounting it under the center dash vent).
Thanks,
Steve
