Protection Switch on Kenwood Amp
Wednesday, October 26, 2005 5:35 PM
I just put in my stereo and the cap. is charged, but when I went to hook up the power to the positive terminal a few sparks flew. I couldn't get the screw into the hole on the bat. cuz the spark scared the crap out of me and the power cable fell onto something metal and sparked. I'm pretty sure the protection switch might have been jumped when I did this. How can I reset it?? All of the fuses are still intacked as well.

You could have cooked the amp brother. For starters, do some research on capacitors in the forum, as well as double and triple check your wiring.

There is no such thing is a protection switch that can be reset. The amp goes into protection because something is wrong internally or witht he wireing. Double check your wireing and if nothing is wrong then take the amp in to be serviced.

Thanks

Ok, I just used a test light for all my connections and every connection is strong. The power light doesn't light up though. Even though the grounds are solid and the test light lights up at every point I check.

Then there is something internally wrong with the amp. Only option is to take it in and have it serviced or replace it.

OK guys I got my stereo working. When I put my deck back in, the power lead came undone, that was the only thing wrong. Thanks a bunch for you guys to tell me to double and triple check my wires!
